I have irregular periods, I can go months without it. But I got my
period July fourth and I got off it like two days before I lost my
virginity for the first time, which was yesterday. He did come in me. I
was wondering, is it possible to get pregnant? It's not that I want to,
I'm scared that it might happen. I was hoping that because I have
irregular periods & I had sex after my period, I have a low chance
of getting pregnant? I konw it's too early to tell if I'm pregnant, but I want to be cautious, since I don't know how I can tell if I'm pregnant since I have irregular periods. Please help me! I'm in desperate need. :(

Hi Kayla,
Yes, you can get pregnant. Having sex just after your period is when you are becoming MORE fertile. You are LESS fertile just before your period.
Your period started on July 4. Yesterday was the 10th. So you are on day 6 of your cycle.
Sperm can live up to about 5 days. If you had a regular 28 day cycle, you would normally ovulate between days 11-16. So, you could certainly get pregnant.
Yes it is to early to know if you are pregnant. It is not instantaneous it can take days. It is more difficult to know with irregular periods.
Signs to look for include spotting, cramping, or increased discharge. These are not specific indicators, but if you have them you may consider taking a home test.
However, you can take the "morning after pill" within 72 hours and it is very effective. The sooner you take it the more effective. Check with your pharmacist. After 72 hours it is to late. It is not an abortion pill, it prevents the embryo from implanting.
Good luck.
