I work in a restaurant kitchen and get burnt all over the hands and even on the face once. Working around the stove and open fire can be dangerous and is almost inevitable, I know, but I am more concerned about the consequences constant burning leaves on skin. Is it possible burns can cause serious complications?

The most common injury caused by burns is disfigurement to the skin, the largest organ of the body. This can also result in associated body chemistry and organ damage. When burn injuries are suffered, the severity of the burn will depend on which layers of the skin become damaged or destroyed. Burns can destroy nerves, creating a very dangerous condition, since the ability to feel pain is essential to survival. Be very careful.
