Hi friends. My dad is driving me crazy. He went to see his doctor twice in his life (not literally but in the past couple of months). Now, a few months ago when he went to see him he prescribe Nicorandil to him. The other doctor a couple of days later prescribed Mononitrate to him.
Yesterday I saw that he is taking those medicines together. I was like – OK, that is normal, but then I asked him did he consulted his doctor.
And, guess what? He DIDN’T.
Can you please tell me is it safe to take Nicorandil and Isosorbide mononitrate together?
Should he consult his doctor?

Hello there. Well, I hate when older people are not responsible. But that is just the way it is. I don’t think that it is safe. One medicine can cancel the effect of the other medicine. Maybe it is nothing serious, I never heard that someone is using those two medicines so I can’t tell you what can happen. I don’t know a lot about your dad’s history disease to tell you about this. But I know that his doctor can tell him what the best option is in this case. I am sure that everything will be fine. Have a nice day!

Well, tell me about it. I am struggling with my dad for my whole life. He thinks that he is the smartest guy in the world and he thinks that he knows everything. Yes, I have tried to tell him that he needs to go to the doctor but he doesn’t want to listen to me. I was trying to find something about it, but I couldn’t find any experiences about this. I think that I am going to lose my mind because of this. And I do know that one can cancel effect of the other medicine. That is why I am concerned.

Hi you two.
Here is what I know. Isosorbide mononitrate is a drug that is prescribed for the treatment of angina pectoris.
Nicordanil is also used for angina. So I think that there is no danger if you take those two medicines together, I don’t think that this is not safe, I just believe that those medicines won’t work as they should. When you look at things from another perspective, why would you take two different medicines for one problem? I think that one medication is just enough (and more effective). Ask your doctor about this.
Good luck with it.
