I consider my self to be a very healthy man. All my life I’ve been somehow involved with sport. I was in gymnastics for over than 15 years and after I was a coach for 10 years.
I have never been to a doctor in my life but recently I started to feel pains in my back. I don’t remember any injury related to my back earlier in life so I can think of any reason.
Pain is usually located in my lower back. I drank some pain killers but they didn’t help. Pain gets worse when I’m in the move or when I contract my back muscles.
I contacted my doctor and final diagnosis was Spondylolithesis.
Is this something serious and will I need a surgery?

I don’t wont to lie and I going to tell you only truth. Spondylolisthesis is one very serious and urgent condition.
You also must know that your gymnastics didn’t help you with this condition but opposite- some sports, such as gymnastics, weight lifting and football, put a great deal of stress on the bones in the lower back.
Spondylolisthesis is a condition in which one vertebra slips on another.
It is very serious because slipped vertebra can cause big pressure on spine and cause different motoric disorders.
There is a grading for this disease depending on the amount of slippage of the vertebra involved.
Five slipped vertebras are the worst case.
Most patients with low-grade spondylolisthesis and degenerative spondylolisthesis can be treated conservatively. There are special exercises which can help to reduce the pains.
If your vertebra injured the spine than operation is unavoidable!
