I’m in my 18th day of recovery. I started out waking up less than 10 minutes after surgery. I was in a level of pain never experienced before. I was trembling with pain. After they settled down to a level 9 they sent me home. First Day wasn’t bad,I slept good and I was up and in not to much pain, maybe a level 7. Then came Day two. Massive pain had settled in and it became unbearable. No sleep at all. Day 3 was worse, no bm yet and I was so stopped up it had lodged itself to come out but wouldn’t. Now my urinary tract was blocked. No sleep at all, so much pressure. Day four I went to ER to install catheter to relieve some pressure but it didn’t work very well. Bladder spasms and being plugged there was no relief but they sent me home. No sleep at all. Day 5 I was in such pain I was ready to give up. I had so much pain I had to get the stool out. I kneeled on 1 leg and it moved so then I squatted and pushed and pushed so hard I thought my heart might explode but I was determined to win this battle. I continued this for 3 hours stripped down and soaking in sweat, blood everywhere, sweat all over the floor, broke the toilet seat and paper holder and finally it reared it’s ugly face and made it to the hole. I could feel the stool with my finger but it would not move. I was so desperate I used my pinky and was picking little pieces out. So gross! Finally I was able to push it out. I was totally exhausted and screamed in pain. It was so hard and fat it couldn’t come on it’s own. I got about ten minutes relief and was able to pee. Then the next one lodged itself and I started the process again, about a half hour for this one. But no relief because I had 8 bm’s in the next four hours. After each one was severe pain, can’t sit stand kneel or lay down for long. No sleep at all. Must have taken 15-20 baths a day hoping for any relief. Day six I felt better coul pee and poop. Had the catheter removed and went home. Got 3 hours sleep. Day seven had 17 bowel movements and was in more pain than I could tolerate. Urinary tract blocked again back to the ER to install another catheter and wore it for 5 days. Removed it myself cause we are so far from the hospital. Since then I have turned the corner and can pee and poop on my own but the BM’s are still painful. I had 3 collums removed of internal and external with the largest two over an inch in diameter. The best food I ate was prunes, seemed to help the most. I was not coached very well about this surgery. I should have made sure my Colin was empty before surgery. All the drugs made it rock hard and extremely painful.
I’ve had 8 surgeries including 2 rotator cuffs.
This was by far the worst experience of my life! I don’t recommend this surgery to anyone unless the roids are out of control like mine were. If the Doc told me I would only be roid free for only 10 years I would not have had it done at all. I am a 60 year old male

I'm a 42 year old female and have had problems with hemarroids since I had my first daughter 17 years ago, then it got worse when I had twins two years later. They were always there and a problem, but more of a nuisance than painful. There was one time that they became thrombosed hemarroids. That is when it first became unbearable to me. I work at a school though, and was out for summer break. I was able to stay in bed and heal as best as possible, though it was horrible pain. 2 1/2 weeks ago I got thrombosed hemarroids again, but it was much worse this time, and I wasn't in a break. I took a day off went to doc, she gave some ointment and the Tramadol pain killer. She said I need surgery to have them removed, but that it was a very painful surgery. She recommended for me to wait till summer break because I would need a lot of time to recover. So that was my plan. But that night, pain continued to worsen. By morning it was the worst pain I'd been in since childbirth. The pain caused me to vomit, feel faint, sweat and shake all at the same time. I almost went to ER. But instead doubled up on pain killers. I took a Loritab borrowed from a friend along with the trumudol, and it helped enough for me to go to urgent care. He was shocked about how bad it was, and lanced it to relieve some pressure. He then told me the surgery couldn't wait. He gave me 4 days for the incision to heal, and I was scheduled for surgery. The surgery lasted for 4 hours. They were very large, external and there were 4. I'm not sure if I had internal, he didn't tell me if I did. I had to get several stitches. I had no problems at all urinating. As others have said I was feeling pretty good that evening, and the following day due to still being numb. The next day I was in a lot of pain, but could deal with it. It was still a lot better than the pain from the Thrombosed hemarroids. I stayed on top of pain pill schedule, stool softener that I had started taking after first procedure, and also Milk of Magnesia. The problem came with the first bm. I had taken enough stuff that it was defintley soft, maybe too much so, but the pain was excruciating! It was horrible during, but much worse right after. Much worse than the thrombosed hemarroids. It's the worse pain I've ever felt. It was a horrible burning, stinging, pain, along with pressure that would not stop. I couldn't walk, couldn't sit, sweating, shaking, i never ever want to experience anything like that again. And I have a pretty high tolerance to pain. Problem is, bathtub leaks. The sitz baths I had read so much about, I couldn't do. I just slowly made it bed, put a towel under me for blood, spread eagled and tried to soothe with witch hazel wipes. It was like that for a week and a half. I'm on week two. Still painful bm but not nothing compared to that first week and a half. I'm not bleeding constantly anymore, I no longer have to wear pads, but am still bleeding quite a bit with bm and even urinating. I went back to work today, and did okay, but still having a lot of problems with bm. I can't take natcotic pain ked at work either so it's been tough, but a lot better than it was. I'm not sure if it was worth it yet. I still have either major swelling, or skin tags left, I'm tired, stress completely out everytime I need to go to the bathroom because I'm so scared about that pain coming back. But hoping in a few weeks I'll be able to look back and be glad it was done. Just be ready the pain is unbelievable, and there's nothing that soothed it for me. Good luck to everyone that gets it done.

Hi everyone,to be honest despite using laxatives and eating only high-fiber food, lots of water, taking sitz bath, avoiding to be constipated at any cost, the first week is going to be HELL,but as you can see here U WILL SURVIVE and even that it might sound insane in the first week after surgery, you will be thankfull after 2 month and the horrible memory will fade away,
So BE STRONG and go through the recovery day by day
