Hello everyone.

Hope your are all well... I am going out of my mind with worry at the moment.

I had a mid foot dislocation & fracture in Sept 2009 I am just about sorted in terms of walking properly again being able to run about and not be in any pain whatsoever. I only have a little bit of stiffness when I get up on a morning but even that is nothing to complain about as its just when I havent walked on it all night that it goes stiff. As soon as I have moved about for 10minutes its fine.

I have had in total 3 operations. 1st to ease the pressure and get my foot back in place, 2nd was to surgically fix it all back together with 7 screws & the 3rd was to remove the screws after Xmas.

Today I have been to the hospital for a checkup as its 2 months after the screw removal op. He asked how I was getting on I said fine apart from the stiffness on a morning which isnt an issue. They have done xrays and he said the lisfranc joint was very badly damaged and he said it looks like there could be some wearing of the joint on the xrays... this is what I am worried about.

He said I have opened up my chances to Arthritis from the injury (I fell on a step and tried to stop my fall and stood sideways on my foot). Treatment for this would be to fuse the Lis Franc joint and this would ease the pain.

Presently I am walking perfectly and even running... this concerns me as if I had to have the fusion operation would I be able walk and bend my foot like I do now...

Very upset at the prospect that there could be further complications and not sure what to do. 3 months time and I will be going back for more xrays to see how things are healing.

Im only 26 & dont want to end up walking with a stick or a limp would be truly upsetting for me... I love to dance and obviously cant do that if I am not walking properly.

Can anyone put my mind at rest? :'(

Here are some pictures of my injury. Hope these show a bit more about my injury which was received from tripping on the step and putting my foot down sideways to try to stop my fall.

There is a CT Scan image after I had the first operation to relieve the pressure and try to get things back into place no incisions were made at this time it was just manipulation... the swelling was then allowed to go down for a week in hospital before the surgery.
