I was just diagnosed with Lis Franc yesterday by a Orthopedic surgeon who says I need surgery asap. I feel down the last 2 steps helping my kids in the middle of the night. Went to urgent care the next day and they said that I didn't have a broken bone and sent me home with a boot. After 5 weeks I thought I should be better and so I went to a doctor and after more xrays he says I have Lis Franc displaced and need to have surgery right away.
I found this forum and I think I will be posting a lot since I will be bed ridden. I work from home on the computer so I can still work (I hope). I have a second opinion today with another doctor and if he says the same I will have surgery next week. I'll let you all know what happens as it does.
In the meantime I am going to find out where to buy shower seats, walker, and anything else I will need.

Hi my name is Conell on January 11th I also broke my foot in four places and tore the ligament a lis franc fracture aren't we the lucky ones. This has been some experience it seems like we belong to a special club. The pain has been pretty intense. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago it seems to have went well but the pain hasn't really changed to much I'm trying not to take anymore painkillers and just keeping it elevated and I also have begun to soak it. The Dr said it will break up the blood that accumulates in the bottom of the foot. Well I hope all has been going well for you just as long as we keep a positive attitude things should go well.

thankful for all of these posts. had something fall on my bare foot from a height one year ago-- after the pain did not abate after several weeks, saw a podiatrist/ then family MD-- all said was nerve damage that takes "awhile" to heal-- seven or so months later a pottery plate landed on same foot, same location and set the healing way off track. it had never seemed to heal -- could only wear one pair of shoes-- which are ankle boots-- comfortably-- the pain at night when in bed is the worse-- wakes me up. after chiro laser treatments and acupuncture was referred for X-rays at an Orthro Center here in Twin Cities that is new and well regarded-- The MD's then wanted an MRI which showed the suspected LISFRANC-- Have an air boot-- and a three weeks follow up-- no one is suggesting surgery at this point.. BTW, Googled LISFRANC and found not only this wealth of notes-- but the definition-site, as well, re. the origins of the naming of this -- it is well worth a read-- the typical causes included horseback riding and falling with foot in stirrup, or into a drain... -- and landing after doing too many airborne pirouettes... Hmm... I guess I need to stop those... :) SASHA
