Lately I have been really struggling to get up in the morning for my runs. I am not sure if it is because of long days at work or what but on the mornings on when I plan to get up early and head out to try and get a long run in I just can't .

A few things that help me when my motivation seems to be slipping...
1) music or running podcasts
2) reading about running -- if i read about running - stories or training ideas - the night before my run, the morning run is easier to deal with
3) mentally i continue to remind myself how i feel when i run (good) - compared to how I feel when I skip a run (bad)
Not sure if any of that helps. We all deal with motivation differently.

I agree. Change your routine, or make your runs special. Sometimes I overanalyze my performance (or lack thereof) and need to just run. I'm not
a coach and have only ran 1 marathon, but maybe cross-training? Ride a bike for a bit. When I trained for my marathon I figured that to complete the marathon I would have to get used to running when I did not want to.
