Hello all: I have totally lost my modivation to train for anything... I was trainging for the Columbus Marathon (in Oct) but got injured and was unable to run. Now I have not been modivatied to run but once a week I was in hawaii and only ran once and was totally borred with running. HELP! I am planning on running the Flying Pig in May. I live in Upstate NY so the weather sucks and is a good excuse to not run. I am a native of Ohio (thus the 2 different races) any suggestions would be helpful! :?

Just do it! The results you see in your body plus the stress relief are way worth it. That's all it takes for me.

um, visualizing the flying pig start line would be motivation enough for me.

Reevaluate your goals, and set your sights on the Flying Pig. Perhaps enter a race or two prior to the event

Definitely try and find some shorter races that you can aim for as a build up or find someone to run with!!

I seem to go thru cycles like this - maybe twice in the last five years. I'm afraid I have no advice on how to get back in the groove. Just stick it out and do whatever bare minimum you can muster. Don't beat yourself up over it, be patient. Eventually you'll just snap out of your funk and the running will be good.

I'll take the opposite tack to everyone else (not so unusual)
DON'T RUN!!!
What's the point in going into training with a half-hearted attitude. The Flying Pig, I'm guessing is a marathon, is that right ?
Running a marathon at any level take's commitment.
I always looked forward to running in adverse conditions.
My thinking being no one else would train in conditions as hot or as cold as these and I could gain an advantage.
Motivation come's from whithin, get your attitude right and then come back to running.
In the mean time do anything areobic, swim, bike, work on strength and conditioning, then when you are ready make the commitment....
