I have had on again and off again severe pains in my butt and lower abdominal area that my body then reacts with the cold sweats and a high fever for only 30 minutes or so. In the mean time, I have dull pain almost like I am constipated, however I am not. I have tried the colon cleanse - 3 different ones and neither of them have really worked. ? . ? My doctor has just said, try the colon cleanse and you should feel better. Well, I have tried them and still have this pain. It is frustrating! It is extremely painful to engage in intercourse, which is putting a bit of a strain on my relationship!
So, I am now wondering if this could be because of the IUD? If not, what could it be?
I am just tired of it already, it has gone on for about 5 months now every day, I just want to feel normal again.
Thank you so much,
Lisa

I started birth control two months ago, and I have the same pain. From the research I've done, it seems to be overproduction of prostaglandins that causes the pain. Prostaglandins cause swelling and muscle contraction (uterus). If you take ibuprofen or any other NSAID that inhibits prostaglandins and the pain is temporarily relieved, then this is likely your problem too.

I had EXACTLY this to the letter until work today, when something changed and the pain got way worse. I had a cyst on an ovary and it had ruptured. I'm not saying that's what you had, but I'm just saying see a gyno next time, or, if that's who put you through those colon cleanses, see a new one.
