I am in dire need of help. I'm currently running short distance in track and i am looking for a scholorship. I run a 10.7-100, 22.5-200, 49.8-400, and 14.5-110 High hurdles. My love is hurdles and that's what i'm looking to get a scholorship in. Anyways, a few weeks into track, every year i do track, i get these horrible pains in my lower calves which usually keep me from running the last few meets we have. the pain is on the inside of my ankle about 1.5" to 4.5" from the joint. The pain feels like it is behind the bone. I'm fairly sure it isn't achilles tendonitis but not 100%. I will do anything to rid myself of this pain and that's no exaggoration, ANYTHING. Please help

An impressive set of times ryntyntyn. Well done!
I really think with something as important as a scholarship you should have yourself checked out by a sportsmedicine doctor, and preferbally one that comes from a running background.
Is the in pain in your lead or trailing leg or both?
Do you train on a track, if so what sort of track? (I'm thinking hard and unforgiving surfaces.)
You say you don't think it is achilles, I hope your right, but if I had to take an educated guess, I sounds to me like the sheath which encloses the achilles is inflammed.
Still thats only a GUESS, I could name a dozen other reasons and still get it wrong.
In the mean time make that appointment with a sportsmedicine doctor. Rest then ICE, ICE and more ICE.
Running the times you do I'm sure you know that your have to get right on top of these injuries right away.
Sorry I could not have been of more help.
THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS

hey i just read your reply. The pain is in both of my legs and get's worse in the one i use more. ie. my trail leg hurts during hurdles but i jump off my left for high jump and when i did that my left calf hurt worse. we run on a hard surfaced track like asphalt or something of the sort. whenever i take ibuprofin the pain kind of subsides, i mean it still hurts but i can run at full speed for a pretty good days workout. plus if i rest as i have this weekend the pain isn't as bad on monday but it progressively gets worse throughout the week. i've decided to take your advice and go to a doctor but do you know of anything i should ask him about?
