You shouldn't try to pop lumps or squeeze anything out of them when you have no idea what they are. It's just a very bad idea.
I have this same sort of lumpy thing. Seems to be 2 or 3 of them and the nearby lymph nodes are really annoyed by it. Dr. put me on some antibiotics. I hope it works, cuz I was a bit freaked out by it.

Hi, Im really starting to wonder what this could be, I have had a lump on the external of my labia majora for a couple of years now, which i have only really noticed recently, i don't think that it could be std's because i had it before i started any sexual activity, does anyone know what this could be, i am going to make an appointment soon.
It's quite a large lump, but it is soft and skin coloured.
Thanks

i have a similar bump on my left labia majora, and it seems to only become noticeable (eg able to be seen/felt, uncomfortable) when i have my period. what does it mean that it only acts up at that time?

Same problem here and it's true, PLEASE go to the doctor. Mine started under the skin, small not sore, just curious about it at first. I did nothing for awhile. After about 2 months I started itching really bad in the same area. At the same time the lump started rising to the surface and opening. I'm sure me scratching didn't help any but it itched sooooo bad. I used all types of medications. After getting really worried I called the doctor. It is cancer and now I am being tested to see if it has spread to other places including my lymph nodes. If I had only listened to my own body and understood in the beginning that the small lump was not normal!!!

I also had this problem, i started with a small cyst which was there for a good 6 months, when i finally went to the doctor she drained it with a needle which stung a little bit but was fine afterwards. A few months later i got another in near enough the exact same place, i left it and left it then when it started getting bigger i went back. I had left it so long the fluid inside had hardened and they couldnt drain it so i had to have it removed surgicaly, even though it was only the size of a bean. This was very painful and iv ended up with 6 stitches down there so id advise you all to get them drained asap. It only takes 2 mins and is hardly painful at all, much better than an operation.
Hope this helps

I have a pea sized lump lower external region on my labia majora too. Its been there about a month and arrived during my period. I had used an Always' pad that with a tampon which I don't often do due to a heavier period. o.O It was going away but still there until my period returned and when I used the Always pad again the bump flared up again...Its just hard and tender, no puss or anything when I try to sqeeze it.....ouch!

I also have a lump in my Labia Majora. Women please listen to me, and read my story. Three years ago I went to my lady doctor she was an older women (getting ready to re-tire). I showed her what I found (mine is located on the right side of my Labia Majora, inside and outside opening of the vagina but down lower bottom side ,very noticeable from the outside of the vagina and if I push around on it I can push it against the vaginal wall and it will make big ball on the outside these things are very weird to explain and I'm sure we can relate with each other.) Anyways, she told me to leave it alone and that it would be painful to remove and still with "no" explanation of what it was. This was 3 years ago(2007). Now some 3 years later this "thing" has grown in more than doubled its size. These "Masses" that is what they are called are rare and they need to be removed as soon as possible, surgically. They will continue to grow and are dangerous not cancerous (at all times) but they feed off you, basically a fatty tumor or benign tumors (smooth muscle tumor). I had'nt been seen in three years by a women doctor ( I had no Insurance and finally in February (2010) I got Insurance). I went in for a physical, and a pap-smear and to have the"lump" looked at. My (new) doctor was very concerned and I told her about what the "old" doctor had said, to me. She immediately sent me to the hospital for a double ultra sound (meaning a regular ultra sound and a pelvic ultra sound, with the wand) I have now learned I have cyst all over my left ovarie and the "Lump" is actually called "Leiomyoma of the Vagina" I'm having surgery on June 1rst,2010 to remove it. Please do not hesitate to get a second opion on this, even a third. My new doctor told me, "If I would of had this removed 3 years ago when it was first noticed I would'nt be getting ready to tackle a 3 and half inch long incision on my Labia Majora". I'm not excited about this, but can't wait until it is out of my body. Please women do not ignore this, "I don't want any of you to have experience what Im getting ready to experience, because of my own stupidity of thinking this would just disappear because it wont! It will grow, and grow. Best of luck to all you

MD's don't know as much as the general public would like them to unfortunately. Just like the one reply stated, her MD had no idea. If it becomes a major problem, see an obgyn. If it is not functionally limiting, wait it out because your body is smarter than any medical doctor on this planet. It knows how to adapt and make changes for whatever reason that we do not know... but we don't need to. It's this thing called innate intelligence. we don't have to tell our brain how to be the control center, so why would we go against what it thinks is right? Try to let the problem resolve on its own while making sure you are eating right, getting enough activity, and keeping a stress free environment. You'll be amazed. For whatever reason, your body needed this swelling to exist. Let your body's defense mechanisms play their role without being altered by the allopathic medications because once you alter one body system... you alter them all, which does NOT help your body maintain homeostasis.

I am 58 years old and noticed my first cyst about two years ago. When I went to my GYN, he said not to worry about it and that I was quite pristine compared to many of the other women my age that he sees. Then I only had one. It did eventually go away but took months, and then was immediately replaced by another one. I'm up to six of them - kind of all over my labia. They do sometimes get quite painful. My doctor said they could be removed but that is supposed to be pretty painful. So what do I do? I hate knowing they are there. And I'm afraid if I get them removed, they will just come back again. I think what bothers me most was his attitude - it's no big deal. IT IS A BIG DEAL TO ME.

@GUEST who posted 01/11/11: Individual, small lumps under or raised above the labia majora are common but if you're concerned you should have a doctor take a look to confirm so you can identify them going forward. Pain during urination is NOT common so if you still have it you should get checked out. It could be a urinary tract infection, STD, etc. Because you're young and just recently became sexually active it's important to be proactive in your GYN health as you're not yet familiar with your body's symptoms.

@PATTIJ: I haven't had any cysts removed but my understanding is that if they're lanced it's not painful. They inject a little Novocaine into the surface tissue and quickly drain it. Alternate treatments are frequent sitz baths or soaking in a warm bath to help soften them up and help them drain. (My doctor said to try 3-5 soaks a day at 5-10 minutes each if I really wanted to try and speed up the development.) Antibiotics may also clear them up. I've taken doxycycline twice when I had bad cysts that lingered. It didn't stop new ones from forming later but it cleared up my existing ones ASAP.

I squeezed my lump out like a pimple.  Clear liquid came out.  Now I have a sore where the skin was broken, and I hope it heals soon.  I'm keeping it clean.  I probably should have left it alone, but I can't seem to do that.  I'm always obsessed with getting things OUT.
