I just stopped breast feeding after my baby turned a year old. Everything is going fine and I think we are both comfortable not nursing anymore, but the problem is that there is now a lump on my nipple. It looks dark blue-ish, is under the skin, and it is quite painful! What is this, will it go away by itself or do I need to get some kind of treatment?

If you weaned "cold turkey" as it were, I am pretty sure that what you have is a blocked duck. You should probably try to pump some milk or hand express, to make sure your breasts are emptied properly and are not getting engorged. If the area is warm to the touch and you have a lot of pain, you could have mastitis. You will need to see a doctor if there is any pain involved.
