Manipulative behavior in histrionic patients

Is it true that histrionic patients are manipulative persons? I heard that a colleague of ours has that condition and I don't know much about her, but she does seem like someone who needs attention. What kind of behavior disorder is the one she suffers from? Is it something dangerous? I mean, she looks and talks normal, well almost normal, but still nothing out of the ordinary...

Well, histrionic patients usually have well developed skills and therefore might be able to have a normal job. Still, they are known to change jobs easily because they tend to get bored with it after a while. They try to manipulate with their emotions, sometimes even threatening with suicide, if they cannot achieve what they want.

Some additional symptoms of histrionic patients is overly dramatic and attention seeking behavior.

Mostly they are shallow of emotions. They are always self-centered and they can be (very often) inappropriately sexually provocative.

They are using their excellent social skills for manipulation and this is leading them to the center of attention.

If you are suspecting that your friend is suffering from histrionic disorder these are just few symptoms to recognize if you were right.

Treatment for histrionic disorder is usually behavior therapy which has goal to change the way they are behaving especially inappropriately sexual behavior.

Medications can be included but this depends on the severity of the case and than again only your friend’s doctor is familiar with this fact.
