Sometimes it seems that the numerous campaigns on dangers of sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies and condom use had little effect on the mind of teenagers and were a waste of time and men. A new survey in England shows that condoms are rarely used and when they are used, they are used incorrectly.
Those teens that do use condoms use them to prevent pregnancies and not infections and apply them after vaginal penetration. Those who use another form of contraceptive rarely use condoms at all saying that they just carry away.

Among 1400 teenagers questioned in 21 schools in England, 50% had lost their virginity but only 373 used protections. It often happens to them that they put condoms to late or remove them too soon.
The main reasons/excuses for not using condoms is that they wanted to feel more intimate, that sex was better without or that they used other forms of contraceptives.
The main reasons for using the condoms were to avoid pregnancy and to make intercourses last longer. Few of the teens reported being worried about sexually transmitted diseases.

Boys whose girls used another forms of contraception were more likely to use condoms incorrectly as well as those boys who didn’t use condoms routinely.
Interestingly, boys who had better relationship with their mother were more likely to use them correctly.

The biggest problem with using condoms incorrectly is that it may happen that young men start losing their confidence in something that should be a highly effective method.
