My brother just got a baby -10 days ago-and right after the baby was born -it is a girl-she was suspected of having megalencephaly the fact is that it turned out that her brain is somewhat enlarged and I am curious what are common megalencephaly prognosis and could this condition be treated and what are the causes of megalencephaly are anyway. I am afraid that whenever it is about megalencephaly the prognosis are never good for it practically means that the head and not only the brain would be somewhat enlarged in comparison to the whole body and also it may happen that the shape of the head could easily be asymmetrical and the head grows for the brain grows and in persons with megalencephaly the brain is unusually heavy but besides this common megalencephaly complications there are some others conditions also that comes along with this diagnose such as brain malfunction, delayed development and convulsive disorders anyway megalencephaly treatment usually depends on what is the underlying cause of this condition and if it turns out this is hemimegalencephaly related that I am afraid there is no cure for it.
