Opiates can be found on any street corner or from people who see their perscription medication. I think that there is a better way to curb the illegal sale of these drugs and it would make a big dent in this epidemic. when a patient is perscribed opiates the doctor should require urine screens and also a surprise med count. If the doctor calls you up the day before your appointment and tells you to bring your opiate medication with you he will be able to monitor the patient and see if they are being abused or sold. let's face it there is good money in selling these pills. one pill can cost eighty dollars and if a patient is perscribed 160 tablets of 8o mg oxycontin he could easily sell a 100 of them for eight thousand dollars~! Most patients who sell them would shite if thier doctor told them to bring in their opiate meds. this would be a good way to monitor the patient and help curb illegal distribution of these highly addictive meds. A little common sense goes a long way. some patients are getting wealthy off thier pills some making more than the doctors who are writing them~
