Start with your iron levels, because getting your iron in check definitely stops the cravings. I've stopped for years at a time, but right now I'm vulnerable because I don't take my iron as I should. I've had 2 blood transfusions, so I know that this leads to a bad ending if I don't stop.

I love the smell of lavender mothballs. They are my escape from the stresses of life. l crumble them up and sprinkle them all around my house and sprinkle more when the smell starts weakening. I have them in candle melters around my house as well and like dipping a cloth in the melted mothballs and putting it to my face and breathing it in. I can never get a deep enough whiff. I also put them in the heat vent of my car and blast the heater with the windows up to be engulfed in it while driving. I cannot go minutes without having the smell. I am so addicted and know it's bad for me but I just cannot stop. I wear a medical masks soaked in the melted mothballs when I'm out in public. I don't know how to stop.

You can be effected by the chemical if it comes in contact with your skin. You developed a rash which is why you are advised to wash any clothes that came in contact with the mothballs.if inhaled or ingested can cause anemia, long time exposure can cause brain damage.Watch for signs of throat and lung irritation, respiratory problems, vertigo, confusion, headache, nausea, vomiting and/or fatigue
IF YOU FEEL ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS ABOVE... seek a doctor! They should get the paradichlorobenzene (PDB) or naphthalene
Out of your system as soon as possible before it does more damage. Don't ignore your body, your body gives you signs when something is not right. If you feel really tired ...can't eat .. headaches. Please go to the hospital. Call poison control. The consequences can be irreversible and leave you disabled or in a comma even death.
Research the chemicals you are exposing to yourself.

I do addiction having the smell of mothballs since 8years old. Was exposed to mothballs since very young...maybe infant. Reason - my Mum put mothballs into all the closets all the time. So it wasn't a surprise.

The love of sniffing mothballs each time I opened the closest came after my Granny's passing when I was 8, now I am going 44years old.

I am not shy to say that I am still sniffing mothballs when I buy them... purposely scattering them in my room to breathe them in and out of my system. Now the urge is worse, I purposely "wrapped" few mothballs in a towel, places it under my pillow to sniff them when the urge comes.

I have Epilepsy since infant till today. To add on, recently diagnosed with intracranial hemorrhage in the brain. My vision gets bad over the days now.

Not sure whether there's any link to the diagnosis and effects I am suffering now.

I need help to stop this!! Or I am afraid that my brain will further damaged due to my addiction.

Please advise. Thanks so much.

I'm now paying $20 to get the old fashioned mothballs that Enoz stopped making, they are hard to find. This is truly my biggest shame and something I can't get control of. I feel helpless

It is really hard to try and stop, I've been finding it more difficult to find the original as well, but maybe it will help us stop once and for all if we can't find the ones we like. I don't like the smell of the new ones and have been trying other scented mothballs, but it's not the same. I'm going to try really hard to stop this habit. I don't want to keep damaging my body.

I'm so addicted to mothballs. I go thru 3 boxes a day. I smashed them up and sprinkle them all over the place. I have it in a sock that I smell constantly, it's in my car and I have it in a little satchel that I carry around with me so I can always smell it when I want. I take long whiffs until I get light headed and it helps me forget the stresses of the day. It's really hard to quit, it feels impossible.

I've been huffing for yrs . It's so bad I know where to buy all the moth balls with in a 10 mile radius of my house, and 5 mile radius of my job. I was going so often to one store the cashier recognized me. She said " your the only customer who I don't have to tell where the moth balls are ". I've also caught her staring at me .after that I've decided to rotate how often I go to one store. (Which is good and bad) it's good I feel paranoid by the cashier so I won't go in there, bad because I have options.a few of the stores are far but when I get that urge I go.sometimes I huff for one or 3 days then throw it away (quit). Maybe go 12 -14 to 18 days then buy a new box. I buy a new box like twice a month. It's so cheap and I'm wasting money and killing myself slowly. I've hid it in a big pile of snow one winter, I'm always looking for new ways to huff.ive even huffed out in the open on the street.its getting worst.my mouth waters when I think about it but I don't eat it. Im to ashamed to get help.ive gone to na meetings but never say what my addiction is .why cant i stop?why dont i love myself?

It's really hard, I am the same. I know which stores have mothballs close to me, and I'm sure the cashier's recognize me. I would go on binges and quit and go back again. My favorite way is to melt them in candle warmers, dip a rag in it and just lose myself in smelling heaven. It's so strong and satisfying. I know I should stop but the smell is so euphoric and calming to me.

I love the way the crushed up mothballs feel in my hands. I enjoy playing with it and smelling it. I've read all the bad things about it and it hasn't deterred me. I know it's bad for me but can't stop, I don't want to tell my doctor, it's such a strange addiction and I'm embarrassed. I read here of people being addicted for 30+ years... Must not be that bad if nothing has happened to them? I don't know? I just love the smell of them so much and sprinkle it in my house for the fresh scent.
