I got an MRI about a week or so before my period was supposed to start. My period symptoms came a few days late and the bleeding came 9 days late. The bleeding has been not as heavy so far, but the symptoms of my period are worse. My cramps are more painful and my blood is more congealed and a lot darker than usual. I took a pregnancy test 5 days after missed period and sure enough I was NOT preggers. It's def the MRI doing this. I hope my period doesn't last a long time like some other people's have. My usual period last 5-7 days with minimal cramping, pink and red blood, heavy the first few days and then lightens up towards the end.

Hello!

MRI scans should not directly affect your period. However, if the scan causes stress or anxiety, it could potentially delay or worsen your period. Stress and anxiety can mess with the hormones that control your menstrual cycle, which can affect your period in various ways. Other factors, such as changes in diet or exercise habits, can also affect your period.

Did you feel nervous before MRI?
