Hi everyone,
I'm 27 years old male. I was diagnosed with Prostatitis around 3-4 years ago. At that time I had burning sensation while urinating. For 2-3 years I had many tests like DRE, barium enema, colnoscopy. I no longer have burning senstation while urinating but from last year or so I have another problem. Though i go once everyday but I have constipation like symptoms. My stomach is never empty and I have a pain during and after bowel movements. My doctor says I have muscle spasm in levator ani which doesn't allow feces to pass through the anus and thus cause constipation symptoms. He says this is mainly due to stress and tension. I have tried Yoga, pelvic floor muscle stretches, bio feedback but nothing really helped. Just wondering if some one else had/has the same problem or knows the treatment that worked? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm 21 y.o. and I also have levator ani syndrome and chronic pelvic pain as a result. I have gotten tremendous amounts of relief and even felt normal some days after being treated with wet needling. Basically the doctor (usually a neurologist) feel around on your thighs, ass, lower back, and abdomen for trigger points (tight bands or spots). Then the inject the spot with local anesthetic such as lidocaine. Next they pull out the needle then repeatedly slide it in and out in the same are through different muscle folds. While he does this there is a lot of trembling and spasms in the area and to referred locations. This procedure is moderately to severely painful and extremely expensive (for me at least $250 each visit with insurance). But it dissipates the trigger points and the pain and returns function to your penis. Not many doctors are qualified to do this your best bet is to inquire to a pain clinic and ask if this procedure is done or if they know of another office that does.

Hope that helps
