Hello! I need help. I have a six month old baby and I think he is autistic. He sleeps most of the day and I heard that this is the first symptom of autism. His reactions are slow and sometimes he looks at me but when I smile at him he doesn’t smile back. I feel terrible. What should I do?

Hello! I don’t think you can conclude that your baby is autistic because he sleeps a lot or doesn’t smile back. If you suspect something is wrong with his reactions you should visit your doctor and talk with him about your concerns. He will examine your baby and see if further tests are needed. Most mothers are overreacting but I understand your concern. Children with autism may develop normally for the first few months or years and then later become less responsive to other people.
