I came here looking for fistula relief too.. Seems hems are more common. Wish people would post the end result of this treatment. Side effects? Did it work? Acupuncture? Length of stay?

I just gave an update a week or two ago (Page 21). I'm currently writing my follow-up post covering the last week and a bit of the treatment.  I re-read almost every single page of this topic and I can only find one unsatisfied customer. Not sure where you're getting "Not too many happy customers" from…

I think you'll find most people will have successful treatments and then go on to living there lives.  They probably totally forget about returning to post follow-ups.

As I mentioned, I"m almost done writing my follow up (Day 8-17) but rest assured everything went well and I'm back to a showroom rear end.  In fact, I was so happy with the treatments and the final result that I'm considering putting the staff I dealt with on my Christmas list.

As promised, I'm posting a follow up which roughly spans Day 8 of the treatment to Day 17.

To be perfectly honest, the sessions that started around this point were very 'business as usual'.  Each day of treatment was exactly the same and I was 'in-and-out' within 10 minutes.  I was no longer in any pain from the acupuncture session and going to the bathroom was no longer a concern.

It took until day 12 for the flat, pea-sized root of the hemorrhoid to disappear.  By day 13-14, there was no visible sign that I ever had a hemorrhoid.  I looked 100% and felt 100%.  What more could I ask for?

Day 14 through 17 were merely a preventative formality.  Even my doctor admitted that there was officially nothing to 'treat'.  So on Day 17, my experience ended with little fanfare.  I was officially done!  I was told to use the ointments I had been previously given to continue treating myself at home until I ran out.

In terms of a review - I have nothing but good things to say about my experience.  They were professional and delivered what was promised.  Added to which I am covered for the next 5 years, free of charge, should any hemorrhoids return.

For those considering going to NATCM, here's some advice;

  1. Just go!  If you can afford their prices, then I don't believe you will regret it.
  2. You may find (as I did) that there can be a bit of a language barrier.  My initial consultation involved a lot of me saying, "Sorry, what was that you said again?"  The treatment is costly and time consuming, so my advice if you go is - have them repeat anything you don't understand - even if it seems rude.
  3. The acupuncture session can be pretty taxing.  Don't plan on going to work on this day.  You'll probably be spending the whole day trying to find a comfortable way to just relax and wait for the pain to pass.  Arrange for a ride home if possible as well.
  4. (if you go) When your treatment is complete and you're back to normal, don't return to the bad habits that may have got you there in the first place.  I found myself 'pushing' too hard when going to the bathroom and eating things that clogged up my system - constipating me.  Thankfully, I was able to recognize what I was doing and stop it.

My two posts basically covered my entire experience at this clinic.  Hopefully they helped.  Otherwise, if you have any questions - just ask!

Cheers!

I am NATCM alumni. In fact, I was the first non-Chinese to come through the Toronto Clinic (external hemorrhoids, fisure, 1" fistula - 5 weeks to be completely cured). In continue to stay in touch with Dr. Chen and rely on his health advice in general. I drop by the clinic almost weekly to say hello and often times I have an opportunity to talk to patients in the waiting room. From my own experience and pulling from the experience of others RJL's advice is superb. If you are suffering don't delay and get a consultation with Dr. Chen. I have a brand new rear end courtesy of the Chens and I cannot be grateful enough.

Hi i have been going to the clinic the past seven days. I have 3 inside hems 3 outside hems and a fistula. Dr Chen said it would take 30-35 days to cure my condition. Day 1-7 was pretty taxing on me but not because of the medication. I have anxiety/ panic disorder and my mind was going crazy from all this new experience not knowing whats going on down there after each treatment.(treatment is bearable). Today have to get the acupuncture done and im just so afraid but I have to go through it. I will report back after its done.
