This question is for hhh466. This is southernbelle (incase my name doesnt show up).
You wrote to me "your treatment will end soon". I just came back from looking at my rear end with a mirror because I was feeling sort of "funny". I see what looks like a prolapsed hemorrhoid (the same area where I initially had the thrombosis). My treatment is supposed to be ending in 2 days from now (this wednesday).
When they tell you, you get a "new behind" doesn't that imply that you shouldn't see any more hemorrhoids??
I'm scared that this thing is not fully gone. I don't think dr. chen see's this when he does the routine 5 minute check up because I only saw it pop out because I sat on the toilet for 5 minutes (and no I was not straining).
I really look forward to hearing back from hhh466 because it sounds like you are totally cured.

answers to savingupforvancouver
1. markham ontario
2. dr chen
3. still on-going treatment (week 5)
4. thrombosis and fissure
5. still on-going I will keep you posted.
6. I'm already in Toronto so 30 minute drive everyday
7. At home
8. Cost saving. If you could stay with someone obviously. Otherwise a cheaper hotel. you can definitely walk the treatment doesn't prevent you from doing activities.
9. You can walk freely everyday. Only the day you get acupunture you need to fully rest after. relax and not walk around. that is just one day. Other days you just have gauze and some tape on your bum. I guess for people who have hair the tape can be annoying. I'm a woman so no hair but the tape hurts my skin when I have to tear it off each night. I recommend using coconut oil to help remove the tape I only discovered this later on.
10. You can definitely explore the city you will be fine to walk around. It isn't painful.
costed me $2K + HST.

Hi southernbelle,
I tried to PM you but it won't allow me to as it says you are "registered". I am looking at going in for treatment very shortly as well (after MUCH debate). Just wanted to check what happened with this and if you asked Dr. Chen about it? Would you recommend the clinic at this point? I had planned on seeing Dr. Ivy but noticed in a previous post you said to avoid her....would love your thoughts on treatment thus far. Also, did you have to make an appointment far in advance? Thanks!

Well I figure I should check in. It has been one week since I had the accupuncture. I def notice a large difference as my thrombosis is basically all but gone. My hems are still drying up as I still get some mild bleeding during bowel movement only but each day is less and less. The pain is almost all but gone as well. it looks like I will have a skin tag left over as I had a rather large thrombosis but this does not bother me one bit as i never notice it at all. Dr Chen said he was pleased with how everything is progressing. He thinks in about another week I should be close to 100%. Progress seems slow but once again every day is a little bit better. Be happy when I have a bowel movement and there is no trace of blood as that will be a mental relief.

Yesterday was my final day there for treatment. I have not been given cream that I am to apply myself for the next 10 days and then in two weeks time go back in for my final check up. Things are going well. Almost feel completely normal. Dr. Chen is happy with my progress and hopefully I am on the final stretch to being fully healed.

You might want to try Ultroid. It is non surgical treatment as well and they have it in Australia.

I'm currently going through their session right now. It is far too early in my 17 day treatment to report back, but I'm keeping a detailed diary of my experience and will check back in at about the half way point.

Since I’m just reaching the halfway point in my treatment, this post will obviously be incomplete. I promise I will check back in once I am finished.
‘Painting the Picture’
Male, 37, casual smoker, non-drinker, somewhat sedentary lifestyle, thin build.
1 very large external hemorrhoid (about the size of a prune), 3 very small internal hemorrhoid (that I wasn’t aware of until my initial consultation.
I actually called NATCM because of the fact that when I contacted my family doctor for an appointment for said hemorrhoid, the only time they could fit me in was 3 and a half weeks later. I was in so much pain/discomfort that I quickly hopped online, googled local clinics, found this post and decided to take a chance.
‘No Better, No Worse’ Day 1 – 4
By the grace of god, I was able to get an initial consultation the very same day I called. After a very lengthy and thorough interview about medical history, I was examined by Dr. Chen. He found the issues I mentioned above and immediately got to work on me. He noted that in my case, he would need about 17 days to ‘fix’ me.
As other members have mentioned, this involved a lot of lotions, potions, herbs and spices. The session ended with an equally complex concoction, inside a porous sack, inserted into the rectum to be left inside for a minimum of 6-8 hrs.
Obviously there won’t be any sort of immediate relief after your first appointment. In my case, my personal pain level going into the initial session was about a 7 out of 10. After being poked and prodded, I walked out of this first session about an 8 out of 10.
Day 2 was a scaled down version of Day 1. Basically, it was a ‘down to business’ session. In total I think the whole session only took about 10 minutes. Again, I left the session only minutely worse than when I came in.
Two more days, two more session. However, on the morning after my 4th session, I started to feel like something was working. There had been no size change but I was feeling a little numb to the pain. Still A LOT of discomfort but I could tell that the pain was not nearly as intense as day 1.
‘Fire Down Below’ Day 5-7
Day 5 was the day of my acupuncture session. This was the longest session so far – almost 45-50 min and was a two doctor ordeal. I spent most of the session teeth and fists clenched expecting the worst. There were times throughout that really stung but overall the experience was no worse than the pain that brought me to the clinic in the first place.
From what I would deduce afterwards, the session is more a combination of acupuncture and bloodletting. The session ended much like the others, by inserting the ‘medicine’ inside me only this time the medicine was far more powerful. When everything kicked in I was in a lot of pain and feeling slightly nauseous. They asked me to sit down for a bit which in fact was the last thing I wanted to do. Standing, lying down, floating in space – anything but sitting probably would have felt like a relief.
When I was finally allowed to go home I was given instructions, pain killers and more medicine for the next few days. I took a cab home and tried to find the best position for which to feel like I was on my death bed. It took about 8 hours before the intensity of whatever was going on down there to wear off. Any relief I had experienced over the past 4 days was now gone. Pain-wise, it felt very similar to where I started from. Until...
I managed to finally get some sleep, woke up, peeled all the gauze and tape off my backside and went to the bathroom. The inevitable ‘wiping’ I knew would be needed filled me with utter panic. I put on my best ‘game face’ and proceed to clean myself.
WTF??? Very little pain. I felt a little raw, but I managed to get through it (gently of course) with much effort. This is where I noticed, with the help of my iPhone camera and a strategically placed leg on the counter, that my hemorrhoid was gone. Again, WTF???
The next few days were a little rough. Basically, the area where my hemorrhoid once lived was so raw that the next few sessions felt like I was being stretched. These sessions hurt but the pain was very short lived. By the time I got home, I was feeling not too shabby.
I checked myself out before session 8 to see what was going on down there. The hemorrhoid was not entirely gone as I had suspected. It had been reduced to the size of a flat pea. I could tell that the root of the hemorrhoid was still there. It was still a ‘win’ as far as I was concerned. I had more mobility, pain had evolved into mild discomfort and certain tasks (going to the bathroom, getting up from a seated position, etc..) were no longer agonizing. Dare I say I almost felt human.
‘To be Continued’ Day 8 - ?
This is all I have so far. I apologize if it was a little long in the tooth. I’ll keep you posted in a similar manner, if it helps, as I go through the treatment.
