my septoplasty experience as it happens

had an operation for a bad deviation today,,,went in hospital at 10.30am and came out at 2.30 pm

have to say after reading all the bad stories on here i thought i would post my experince

put on the dressing gown then walked to the room and lay down on the bed for them to give me my general anesthetic .he first said he was going to put in some strong painkiller,after that they put a mask over me and told me breath deeply then they put me to sleep.later i woken up a bit groggy in the recovery room feeling quite ok,i was then taken to my normal room,the nurse asked me how i felt and on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad mine pain was(it was about 2)

she then asked me if i wanted something to eat,i had 2 rounds of toast and 2 cups of coffee,all the time i flet fine,maybe very very slightly light headed,i had no nasal packing done.my nose bled a bit in there but tissues sorted that out when needed,i still could breath through my nose,about 40 minutes later i was told it is ok to call home to arrange somebody to pick me up and i could get dressed,i was sent home with sterimar isotonic nasal hygiene spray.500 mg caplets of parecetemol.codeine phosphate 30mg and ibuprofen 400mg,i also asked for some gauze and tape to stick under my nose to catch the blood(how could they forget this ?) the time is now 20.54 pm and i have ate ok with a little trouble due to the gauze and not wanting to put any stretching pressure on the nose,the pain has been fine through having the tablets every 4 hours and i am getting around the house ok and feel good,so all the horror stories you hear of doesnt mean yours will end up like one,i went in positive and came out positive,even night before the op i slept like a baby and no family was there when i had the op
