my vagina gives off a really weird scent and i dont know what the cause is. im not comfortable with asking my mom about this subject, so i asked my boyfriend and he said that having a yeast infection can cause this. i also asked a reliable friend who said it can also be caused by being "unclean." after being told this i started washing my vagina with soap, but that just made it red, irritated, and dry. it also didnt help the bad odor coming from my vagina. i didnt know what to do, so i asked my dad what could be causing this. he said sometimes drinking drinks like big red and dr pepper can cause this bad odor i've been experiencing. is this a joke?? i dont know what to do because if this is true then im going to have to stop drinking my favorite drink (being big red). i need advice very soon. im very concerned

yes, it can be because of the yeast infection, but not necessarily. also, when you notice or feel some weird vaginal odor, you should not wait to see what is going to happen, will it go away or not. you should visit your gynecologist because it can be an infection or some illness.  if you are still scared of the doctors, here is what you should do, it may be helpful for restoring your vagina’s natural pH. you can do that in so many ways. also, some hot baths and hot showers can upset your natural pH, but one can be really helpful. You should pour a cup or two of apple cider vinegar and let it there for 20 minutes. It can return your PH balance into normal.

First of all, you shouldn't really use soap on your girly parts. Soap is drying and can cause irritation, such as the one that you describe. I use Johnson and Johnson Baby Wash, or look for a mild organic soap. You should never let yourself get to the point where you need to scrub your business, a daily bath or shower should be enough. If you smell down stairs, you may have some kind of infection going on.
Do you feel burning when you pee? Do you itch? Do you see any discharge? If no, this is not a yeast infection. Are you sexually active? Does bf use a condom?
You may have a problem with the latex from the condom.
Your ph may be off in your body. We girls have our own built in cleaning system, and if something goes out of wack, it can throw off the natural cleaning process.
Do you douch? This is un necessary. Douching throws off our natural flora and causes a lot of issues. Many girls take a douch after their periods or intercourse, you don't have to. Our bodies clean up after itself.
Is this odor from within the vagina or just on the outside?
Many women have stronger odor than others.
If you have checked the above suggestions and still can't come up with an answer, you may want to give your doctor a call. Nothing to be ashamed of, they have seen it all.
