I need help in determining the best type of contraceptive as the pill makes me feel really ill. I feel nauseous and decreased sex drive. I have tried an I.U.D and had flooding bleeding and other side effects and had to get it taken out. I have been prescribed Levlen and Yasmin and found Levlin gives me extreme reflux in which i have take medication for and i feel im just taking one pill to counteract every side effect.

I too get really sick with the pill - I have tried them all... Yasmin (expensive) too. I get symptoms that I can only liken to 'morning sickness'. Doesnt matter when where or what I take them, I wake up in the middle of the night vomiting - as soon as day 2 -3 of starting them. Mornings are ugly, and I spend the whole day nauseous and grumpy.
I also suffer from hormonal pimples, which I had hoped would disappear with the Pill.
I have been considering an IUD.... but I find the hardest thing being that no one takes me seriously when I tell them they make me sick!!! Doctors just look at me sideways like I am lying!!

Me too .. I just started taking Alesse and am on my 2nd pack and feel terrible.. and nauseated and yup I to am having issues with dryness and no sex drive.. I have used an IUD in the past I used a copper one so there were no hormones and it was nice :-) but I have long sence had it removed... I am thinking about just buying contraceptive sponges.. they have started remaking the Today Sponge sooo I am going to try that ... they are easy to use and not messy at all they soak up the sperm and the spermacide kills the little guys :-) they are suposto be small like a tampon and feel like nothing sooo its worth a shot :-)

this is my theory about the low sex drive, but to me i think we have a sex drive to get pregnant, not saying we want to get pregnant but that the hormones released around the time of ovulation makes us want to have sex...have you ever thought of that? like i also get turned on around the time i'm ovulating! ...so when your on the pill, it tricks your body to thinking its already pregnant so you don't ovulate, thus the no sex drive...does that make sense?
