Hi,
I heard from my gynocologist today. She was looking into my not having a period on Yaz for 3 months after being on it for 8. She explained that it is not a problem so long as the uteran wall is not continuing to build up. If the wall continues to build up, and I don't bleed, it can possibly lead to cancer. She is referring me to get an ultra sound. She says that is the way we can see if there is a build-up or not. If the wall is not built up, I can continue taking this wonderful birth control. If not, looks like I'll have to get off and go back to 9-day heavy, painful, bloating, emotional periods. I hope not, but I'll keep you posted.
Just don't ignore this guys. No period may not be okay. I'm just happy to find out that I'm not the only one experiencing this on Yaz.

I have been taking Yaz for about 5 months also. With past birth controls I would miss pills often or even skip my period on purpose, so my period has been a little messed up since. My doctor suggested Yaz to me but when I started taking it I just stopped having a period. If I did have any bleeding it was very light and would only occur like once a day. Last month I got my "period" an entire week before I was supposed to (with the white pills) but only bleed a regular amount for about a day and the rest was light spotting until my pack was over and the month before that I completely missed it. This month I missed it again with no spotting or light bleeding whatsoever. However, I am still getting cramps! Normally my cramps are pretty bad to begin with, and at first they were a little better on this pill, but when I miss an entire period they are much worse and very painful. Is this typical in this situation? Or -- has anyone else experienced the same thing?
Thanks a bunch

I have been on Yaz for year and half now, and I usually get my period on the first day of the pill pack, so after i take all the whites, but i chose to start the pack originally the day my period started. When I first started I remember getting headaches but not missing a period. After 3 months, I started to feel side effects, nausea, dizzy, missed period, ect. I went to my doctor and we decided to wait a month before taking me off. The next month was back to normal. So it could just be because you are new to it, I wouldn't worry. My period over the past year has been very light, although this month was very irregular. I normally spot on the first day and bleed very lightly through the week, while this month was just spotting through the week. I've got other health problems that may have caused this but I am very happy with the pill overall.

Hello. I have been taking Yaz for about 8 months now. I've only had my period about 3 times since I've been on Yaz. My periods before Yaz were irregular, I remember not having one for 3 months... I was moody.. mean.. and constantly fatigued. But this last week or so I've been a bit moody like I used to be before the Yaz... snapping at people.. crying at the drop of a hat. I was told I have severe PMS. I went to my Gynecologist to maybe see if I could get a stronger dosage of birth control.. maybe the type I was taking was too weak. I told my doctor I wasn't getting my period on Yaz and he looked shocked.. and I remember when he first put me on it, He explained I would only get 3-4 periods a year. But when I recently went to see him, he told me I was wrong, and I should get a period every month while taking Yaz. Part of me knew that was not right. So, I've been looking up things about it and came across this forum. I could really use some help.. I love taking Yaz.. I feel so much better and am all around a happier person. My doctor prescribed me new pills but I really don't want to leave Yaz. Am I supposed to get a period every month on Yaz? I am reading everyone elses posts and to me.. it doesn't seem like I'm supposed too. Anyone know a for sure answer? Please I need help!!!
Thank you!
Thank you!

I have been taking Yaz for 3 months now. I am on my 4th month now. The first 2 months were wonderful, no side effects, got my period when I was supposed to. But now I haven't had my period yet and I have been on my new pack for almost a week. I have also been experiencing really bad cramps that have lasted a week and moodiness and very fatigued. I always thought you were supposed to have your period every month while on Yaz, and its weird how I had mine perfectly the 1st 2 months and now its being strange. Is this normal?

I have been on the YAZ birth control for 2 months enitirly. The first pack I was one day early for my period (I started on the pink pill right before the 4 white pills). Now here I am on the second month and now I just took the 3rd white pill this morning (it is only 7:36am now) at 7am but I haven't had my period yet. What does it mean?? I can usually feel my period coming a couple of days before it does (I don't know... I just do), but I don't feel it coming now and I'm really worried. I had not missed any days of birth control at all while taking YAZ for 2 months. I did have sex Labor Day weekend on a Saturday. I had already gone through 10 pink pills of my new pack and had used a condom. Thruthfully it was my first time ever having sex and I did bleed alot then. I don't think, man do I hope, that I'm pregnant because I had taken YAZ birth control for a whole month/1week/3days and I did use a condom. I am on my third white pill now of the second pack and I don't feel my period coming on. What does this mean?? Is it normal at all to miss a period like this?
I don't think I'm pregnant because I used extra precautions (birthcontrol for a month; Trojan condoms that had spermicide in them). Should I be worring at all?

I've been taking Yaz, was on it for about 4 months, accidentally skipped quite a few pills during the 4th month tho. Got No period my fifth or this month at all, keep feeling like it's coming but no sign of it what so ever except for cramps and back ache. I've taken tons of HPT's and two blood tests and all came out negative. I haven't been taking these pills for the past two months now and am hoping to get my period. I dunno what's wrong with me or what to do anymore if anyone has any helpful information i'd appreciate it if you could help me please.

This has been really helpful.
I started YAZ almost four weeks ago, and was not switching from a different form of BC.
Now, I had skipped my september period, but I am not pregnant. (Sometimes my periods skip due to stress. That was the third time it's happened, but not consecutively. Apparently there is some history of that; my mom said that she used to skip her period for a couple of months in the winter often enough without being pregnant.)
I've been taking the pills at 9PM every day, and yesterday was the first day of the white pills.
I haven't had my period yet, and I always get extraordinarily nervous whenever I skip a period, even though I can't be pregnant.
I only began having sex two weeks after taking the pills and even then, my boyfriend and I used a condom.
Prior to the pill it was only messing around with hands, and there were no "close calls" or going from touching his penis to touching my vagina.
Sorry to have gone off on a tangent like that. I just wanted to thank you all for being so helpful.

november makes my 8th month on yaz. i normally start my period before right before the white pills, but this time i'm on my last white pill and still haven't started. no signs of my period either. two months ago i got off on taking my pill pretty bad, but then everything was back to normal.
i did have sex about 3 weeks ago, but i used a condom. i'm not sure if i'm just getting paranoid or what. i took a HPT last night and this morning and they both came out negative.
i don't know what to do. i'm very worried.

not a hundred percent how helpfull this will be but quite honestly i dont think you should worry ..... being females were all well aware that are hormones are constantly on a rollercoaster .... any change in diet or stress even lack of sleep regardless of b.c can screw up our cycle even hanging out with girls consistantlly ... if you set off you cycle by not taking your pills consistantly or what have you dont worry itll come... not even a pill can ensure your period at the same time every month %-)

I too have been on Yaz for over a year now, at first i got periods every month no problem, they were lighter than normal, but still got them and sometimes it was during the white inactive pills and sometimes when i started the new pack. This was very odd to me. I just kept taking them. However, i haven't got my period for 3 months now. I was so worried as each month they were supposed to come, i took a pregnancy test thinking somehow i was pregnant while on the pill. Each test was negative, so i just kept taking the pill. I didn't feel any pregnancy symptoms, so I was really baffled. I finally went into the dr. on Friday thinking that maybe the pill was screwing with the tests, and asked for a blood test. They gave me the urine test which was again negative and the nurse said that it was completely normal not to get a period while taking Yaz. So i refilled my prescription again, but i think i'm going to change my pill, it stresses me out too much not to get a period and my health insurance doesn't even cover this pill anyway. I did like that it cleared up my adult acne, but it's just not worth the stress. :-) PS i'm glad i found this forum.

thank goodness for this post! i was starting to get really worried that i wasn't getting my period. I started taking yaz earlier this year and got my period the first month second month. then it was m.i.a. for three months followed by a period...and now it's been another three months with out one! i've taken pregnancy tests every month i've missed and it came out negative. i was getting really worried, but i'm glad that i'm not the only one with this problem.
other than the periodlessness, this has been a great birth control for me. i've been on ortho-tri-cylen and ortho-tri-cyclen lo and got periods that lasted two weeks and had horrible mood swings. i then switched to fem con..the worst of all!! it made my face break out with these nasty huge pimples and i gained about 10 pounds. I then switched to yaz. it made my face clear up and lost the weight.
i'll probably still go to my gyno just to have her take a look see since there was that post about uterine lining build up leading to cancer, but if she says everythings ok, not having a period is ok with me! plus i'm saving money not buying tampons, so it's a win win. thanks everyone for your input. i feel loads better. :-)

Well my situation is a little different from every ones.
Little background: I started birth control for the first time I believe last April. I was on Loestrin 24 and it treated me pretty well, but once summer started I was so busy I kept forgetting to take it so I just stopped and decided I'd start again when I had a more normal schedule.
I went to the gyno on the 4th(of this month) and wanted to try Yaz instead. I started my period on the 5th(which is normal for me). I've been taking the pill everyday except one day I forgot and took it a couple hours later then normal. I'm still on my period and it's not super heavy, but it's not light. The first week I was moody, but I figured it was just my body adjusting. I have actually been feeling a lot more positive and happier this last week, but the fact that I'm still bleeding is making me wonder is Yaz just isn't the one for me. I did bleed this long last time I started the other BC so I guess it could just be the way my body responds to it, but no one else seems to have this happen so I'm just curious..
