I get a rapid-onset “cramp” what feels like in my heart, very occasionally, when I lay on left side only. Switching to my back or right side relieves this devastating pain instantly. It feels like I’m going to literally die it’s so painful. I’m very healthy, a very active male in early 40s. VERY healthy diet with regular annual rigorous check ups. Doc says my arteries are like a 20 yr old. This is so annoying when it happens, causing me to jump up and switch sides.

I get this exact feeling every time I lay on my sides. It almost feels like there’s a hollow point in between my breast.

I have had 9 stints put in my heart... I sometimes get sharp pains when laying on my back and left side... The pain is sharp and it comes and goes... I can tell you that if you are getting pain in your chest or heart while your laying down there is a 95 percent chance it is not from your heart... Now if you are getting chest pain of any kind while you are active that's different... So what I do is if I am getting pain that makes me wonder.... I get up and go for a walk around the house... If pain goes away I believe it not my heart... If pain stays or gets worst I would sit down and either call an ambulance or go to emergency outpatients.... I hope this helps someone...

My doctor isn't worried about it at all as I don't get this with exercise; only lying down on that side, very rarely.

Hey! I also feel this most of the time, and I was starting to think hat something is wrong. That's definitely a good idea to visit cardiologists.

Possibly one of the best comments I've read on medical sites. Plenty of information and description, no rambling or moaning. Very helpful to others. Thank-you, hope this problem was fixed for you.

Iam 70 and when I lay on my left side I have pain and feel like my organs are shifting in my chest. I get short of breath. Oxygen level also drops and I start wheezing. even after rolling back over still have uncomfortable feeling inside left chest and heart area. Have had the widow maker and survived but that was 14 yrs ago. Now noticed a hernia on left side. Say VA doc and She said it was not that bad. No Xray or anything done. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have this exact same thing. Not sure about my blood pressure but I wake up feeling like I don't have a strong pulse, uneasiness, shaky. I have had an EKG twice. My bp is fine once I get up & move around as is my EKG even though I still feel shaky/uneasy the 1st half of the day. I have a stress test scheduled Tuesday & hoping they also schedule an echo-cardiogram at some point in the future. If you are following this discussion & have gotten any answers, I would appreciate your response.

I am experiencing the same symptoms, for over 35yrs. I have had entire cardio tests: mri, ekg, stress tests, brain scan and thermal gram. Result is negative with a health heart. One possibility is rib on nerve sensation. Noted, the pain is always on the upper left side of the heart. I am loss as to what is the cause and what could be done?
