No no no. No suppositories for at least a month, and NO blood thinners IE asprin/ibuprophen. They recommended Milk of magnesia at 3TBS every 6 hrs. This is about triple what the over the counter instructions said but it was given by the surgeon himself and it worked wonders.

After haemorrhoidectomy surgery, the LAST thing you want is a suppository up your clacker! And having sex in any form is a close second!! I know, as I lay here suffering with anal spasm, praying that the analgesia starts to work real soon!

I had this op last wk and my surgeon told me before I had it it was extremely pain full and was the most painful one he did. And I would be on very strong meds in hospital and at home which was oramorph and paracetamol plus antibiotics and laxitivies and must take pain relief until no longer required!

You're Right.

I'm on my 2nd week after rectal surgery due to mixed hemorrhoids. I also had a spinal anesthesia and stayed in the hospital for 3 more nights. They helped me on my diet so my first bowel movement was successful. I didn't feel any pain. Upon discharge, they gave me fibrosine to help in proper digestion, daflon for inflamation, dolcet/arcoxia for pain as needed and anti-bacterial drugs. It is really important that you eat food rich in fiber and perform hot sitz bath 2-3x a day (you may add a tea spoon of Epsom Salts as it helps to reduce pain and inflammation). It is best that you take a leave from work 3-6 weeks and just let your body recover. Do a follow up check up every week. Ask your doctor for pain meds and know their side effects.
Honestly, this is the worst feeling I ever felt (literally). I can't even stand or walk for a long time. I bring a soft pillow wherever I go and lie down only on one side most of the time. But hopefully, we all get better and live a normal life again.

Well well well. I had this op 5 days ago - 4 days after seeing a consultant. After the hemeroidectomy he told me he wanted to see me in 6 weeks - 6? I said _ yes, you will want to kill me if I see you at 3 weeks.

He was right. I would right now. I diet get time to read about it, but knew it would be painful. Nothing had prepared me for the constant pain, the rectal spasms, the seepage etc etc.

Pray if you like, but I will put my faith in strong painkillers ....

Go to a different dr. And get him some strong medicine so he has relief. I just had it too. I was taking hydrocodone 2 ,every 4 hrs. The spasms we're so bad the first night I literally did not sleep. They put me on oxycodone. It is not much better. After scraping I still get bad spasms. I can't imagine not having anything. Your dr. Must be cruel. You should seriously fire him and take your husband right away to another dr. Please don't let him suffer anymore. This pain is worse than people thinks. I hate to talk bad about your dr. But he is a professional and should know.

I was given Valium for spasms; call your doctor & request. Are you taking sitz baths(3 x day, esp after bm's, as many as necessary)taking pain meds; be sure to use stool softener; fruits & veggies; Miralax everyday; was also told to take bulk laxative like Citracel) The softer your stool the better. Just not diarrhea. I'm 2 weeks post op.

I agree with you 100%!!! I am 3 weeks out and have just now ran out of Dilaudid and moved on to Norco. Mine was a day surgery, and as soon as the local wore off around 1:30am I was on the phone to my Doc. I was bawling, couldn't move and literally thought I was going to pass out!
I finally got admitted to the hospital at 5:30am, an hour drive away. I took 5 Dilauded for the ride over. My Doc was also a BIG FAT LIAR!!!! He said I would be up the next day with minimal discomfort, driving in a week, back to normal by my 3 week check up which is in 2 days.
I, too, would have rather given birth alone in the woods than go through this excruciating pain. It was almost equal to an open abdominal surgery I had where I was cut open from sternum to pelvis. That was a 9, this was an 11.4!!!
Once n the hospital, I was treated like I was lying about my pain level, my bottom was solid black and looked like I had been attacked with a baseball bat, I couldn't urinate and had to be catheterized 5 times, my pain was never controlled, and I spent 8 days in the hospital, begging for pain meds, regretting that I had trusted my Doc.
I, too, can get my grade 4, internal & external thrombosed hemorrhoids back again, and bleed pints of blood daily, but I will NEVER EVER have a hemorrhoidectomy again!!!!!
