I have been diagnosed with grade four hemorrhoids and I have been experimenting with many different remedies to avoid surgery. I take a warm bath almost every day and use a stool softener daily. I have found the greatest relief after a bowel movement is wiping myself with cold wet tissues. I have cut my food consumption nearly in half to avoid more than one bowel movement a day, because that is the most painful thing. I have lost 25 pounds since I saw my doctor for the initial consultation, not because he said to do that, but because I thought that was the logical thing to do. After reading so many negative comments about the surgery, I most likely will not opt for surgery.

Omg yes I had the surgery 7 days ago and the pain is still unbearable. The surgent prescribed oxycodone to take every 4 hours as needed for pain but apparently I was abusing it too much so after 2 prescription he stopped giving me pain pills and told me to use ibuprofen instead I do have a numbing cream which doesn't help at all.If I knew that the surgery will cause me so much pain I would never had it done. Not to mention when you are trying to have a bowel movement I was literally crying.Good luck

Hi pmayer12381... I had the hemroidectomy as well 3 weeks ago, and being a recovering addict (pain killers being my drug of choice) I really struggled through the recovery process. MY SAVING GRACE: I used an air-pump, blew up a swimming pool floaty thing, and have basically LIVED in the bathtub for the three weeks. Provided relaxation of my stomach muscles, and kept the incision clean. I was at the point where I left the water in the tub (cleaning the tub out three times a day during the process to make sure I was not sitting in any dirty water) and kept adding the hot water. I plugged in my tablet, binge-watched Netflix, read books.... anything to keep me occupied! The bathtub became my bedroom, bathrrom, living room, dining room.... I had a stepstool next to the tub to brace my tablet on, as well as some meals that I ate. I am on the third week, and I am blessing the inventer of the common bathtub!! Hope this helps. Good luck!!!

You either had a one in 10000 chances of having little pain after the surgery(hemmeroidectamy not banding) or you've never experienced it yourself. Im 3 weeks post op. And still need 2 to 3 norco a day. I stopped for two days and tried ibuprofen, but the pain was to much, all i could do was lay on the couch cause walking made it more irritated. Im trying to go back to work, but it's tough. Driving amd sitting is very uncomfortable. So i stand and lay, sometimes sit on a soft surface kinda leaned to the side. But norco, for the painamd a regular regiment of fiber amd stool softener, some valium for the muscle spasms, helps a ton! One thing is for sure. The surgery and even the pain after, had already been all worth it!

Thad total bs! I was given pain medications and it took well over 2 weeks for recovery. Unless you’ve been through this very painful procedure I wouldn’t give advice on it..

The person who wrote the above has ABSOLUTELY no idea what he's talking about. Everyone's pain tolerance is different. Personally my pain tolerance is extremely low and I'm on a combo taking of 2 x 200mg Advil and 1 x 5 mg Oxycodone together. This is now my 8th day since surgery and believe you me it is the very worst pain I've ever encountered.
