I'm a 28 year old male. I don't smoke or drink, and I am drug-free.
Today I started feeling a sharp pain in my right rib cage while breathing. This pain has come and gone sporadically over the past few years. My mom has told me that it's simply a "gas bubble" (air that is trapped between my lung and ribs).
What causes the air to become trapped there? Does it mean I have a hole in my lung?
In the past, taking slow, deep breaths caused the pain to go away. But right now as I am typing this, the pain is subsiding a bit, but it's not gone completely.
I have had bronchitis in the past, and when I was a young boy I was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia (but that was over 20 years ago).
