Hi, I have a problem that is bothering me for quite some time now. Few months ago I have decided to lose some weight and to introduce some kind of sport activity in my life. Since I live in a small town and there isn't much traffic I have chosen cycling. At first I was very satisfied, but then the pain in my calves occurred. At first it wasn't so bad, but now I am unable to ride my bike. Whenever I start to ride it the calves start to hurt. Why is this happening?

Hi, it seems to me that you have over worked yourself. It is great that you have decided to start working out, but you should have taken your time with it. Maybe you didn't have the trouble at first, but your calves were certainly feeling the pressure. So the more you were riding the bike, the more your calves were hurt. And now you have started to feel the pain. I would suggest that you take your time so that the muscles have the opportunity to get used to the new activity. Also, you should always warm up before you start your rides. You didn't mention if you are doing this, but I have a feeling you don't. So warm up, do smaller routs and you will not have problems with your painful calves any more.
