Hello. I'm 22 year old female and just recently I've became sexually active. Although I keep my body hygiene on high level, I started to suffer from strong vaginal itching and tingling. In he beginning I did nothing about it but after a month period I've contacted my gynecologist and he determined that I have some fungus called Candida in my vagina.
He also prescribed me some Canesten topical treatment which I should use for two week. All this got me interested.
What else should I know about these fungal parasites that can be found on humans? Is there anything I could to prevent this from happening in future?
Thanks!

Hello. I'm very glad that you want to find out more about human fungal parasites. I know some facts and I will gladly tell you everything I know!
I don’t know how much do you know about this but Fungi are a kingdom of organisms which resemble plants but with several differences. The most common human fungi is Candida albicans. Species of Candida are normal inhabitants of the mouth, throat, digestive tract and vagina of the human body. Beside this, there are also several skin fungi that could cause some skin infections such as Tinea capitis, Tinea corporis and Tinea pedis. Most common fungi that are causing deep seated mycosis are Blastomyces dermatitidis and Histoplasma capsulatum.
