I had parathyroid surgery to remove an adenoma 3 weeks ago. At one week my calcium level was 10.2 higher than before the surgery. My PTH was 55 down from 92. My doctor says the levels usually fall right away. Was the surgery a failure? Don't really feel better yet.

Hi moonchild, it sounds like what what you're describing is that the surgery did not succeed unfortunately. As far as I can tell, if your levels didn't drop off, then you would definitely need to consult with the doctor about further action. Have you done that yet?

had surgery (2 glands removed & 2 thyroid nodules) 7/16, still have high calcium levels and doctor put me on Sensipar to lower calcium levels. This is not a good drug with side effects I have. What should I do, switch doctors?
