How long does it take for periods to become normal and regular after an abortion? I had an abortion 9 months ago and my periods are not coming every 28-30 days like they were before the abortion. They seem to be coming later and I have even missed a month.

Usually within a month or 2.

AS we women age our periods change, you cannot expect the same cycle year after year :/

Are you on birth control? Have you ever been?

I've had two abortions. Afterwards the doctor or nurse would talk to me about a new method of birth control to use. The pill made me sick to my stomach so I stopped taking it, I mean you take the pill so you can have sex and not worry every second, but how can you have sex if you are sick to your stomach? After the second one, the patch became available, best thing ever! Once I started that (they usually tell you to wait for your period to come around again) I was regular within a few months and then became so predictable I know it comes every 4th Thursday late in the evening, and occasionally very very early Friday morning.

Anyway, I suppose it all depends on what birth control method they gave you afterwards.
