Patient is a 26 year old white female. Up until April 2008, she was asymptomatic and in general good health.

Symptoms include sudden, prolonged (since April 2008) muscle weakness and pain, headaches, low stamina. Walking short distance or sitting upright for short periods is exhausting. Neurological work up showed no nerve damage. Test negative for Lyme disease. Color, weight, appetite, digestion and cognitive impact are not present.

What options are there for treating the meningocele at the brain stem/spinal column which was revealed by a recent (September 2008) PET scan? What are the associated risks with any option?

Would appreciate specifics in plain English if possible. Referrals to articles, web sites, etc. are welcome. Research has not revealed much on adult patients with this condition.
