I have hyperemesis. I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant and when I found out I was pregnant, it was through the ER for excessive vomitiing, high BP, tachycardia, and dehydration. They put me on zophran at least once a day to make sure I at least keep fluids down. My doc gave me a refill on the RX and the pharmacy filled an old prescription, Celexa 10 mg, instead of zophran. They put the generic name on the bottle instead of the brand, and since they gave me the swallowed kind and not the one that melts under your tongue, I just screwed up, didn't pay close enough attention. I have taken about five until tonight, I realized what had happened. The past couple days I've been vomiting again, BP and pulse jumped back up, but it's not unusual for me to have spells, even with the zophran.
The nurse's hotline said she's more concerned with dehydration and BP and such than a few doses of that at half of what most people take, that it's usually only dangerous later on in pregnancy, but I'm so scared I've harmed my baby.

Hi honey! I just checked out Celexa and they said it's relatively safe for women during pregnancy! So don't worry about that OK? And the nurse is TOTALLY correct, dehydration is FAR more worrisome for you and the baby then the antidepressant! You need some medical attention for that! Some women vomit from their own saliva and need to be put on an IV! So please get some help for that OK? And let me know how you make out! Don't worry baby's OK! Just get some help!!! Good luck and health honey!

Is there a way I could get ahold of you later on to let you know how it comes out? And maybe to talk with you? I really appreciate you taking the time to read through this and do some research for me. I'm just kinda paranoid due to having a miscarriage before.

I would definitely like you to let me know how you make out! Just answer on this thread - just like you just did! Don't be worried honey - I know that's easier said than done due to your past loss - BUT as long as you are seen and taken care of with this vomiting and dehydration you should be TOTALLY fine honey! Good luck and see if anyone can see you ASAP! Have you tried Gatorade? Or even Pediasure!

I drink vitamin water and juice. Gatorade has too much sodium in it for me, and Pediasure actually makes me more ill! How bizarre, yeah? And as it is when I don't have the zophran the ER gave me when I found out I was pregnant to keep me from coming back in dehydrated, I can't even talk because any vibrations in my throat makes me get ill.

Totally understand that honey! Did the pharmacy correct their mistake? I know that salted water REALLY helps with your electrolytes, do you have something called Lucozade where you live? It's similar to Gatorade, but less harsh! Also you could water it down! The natural flavored waters are good though! As is Club Soda!! And real gingerale! The baby will ALWAYS take what it needs - even to your detriment - greedy little b****r!!!! ;-) XD ;-) So just make sure you don't feel faint or your eyes become deep or dull! ALL of this should pass in the next 2 weeks!!!! Usually by the 10 - 12th week all this nausea and vomitting subsides! I know it sounds nuts but you can actually become even more nauseous if you don't ingest something! I knew a poor woman that couldn't swallow!!!!!!! It was awful for her! So I feel for you honey! Can you take your prenatal vitamins or are they looking like Nuclear Power heads to you right now?!!! Why the heck do they make them so big?!!! 8-| Watch your heart beat and rate too OK? don't let it get too low and if you feel lightheaded, head back to the ER!
