Hello, my friends. My nephew has been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease. I would like to know if this brings any risks for any kidney infections. What can you tell me about this? I would appreciate if someone knew some more details about this. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hello, there. Polycystic kidney disease is an inherited disease. There are two types of diseases: autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive. Kidneys with cysts get more easily infected than normal ones. That is why you should be extra careful when your nephew's health is about. There other complications you should be aware of. Those are: hemorrhage, calculosis and cyst rupture. I hope I've helped you a little. Ask your nephew's nephrologist about the details. Good luck!
