I'm diagnosed with 4cm paraovarian cyst. I am 63 aand exp. menopause 12 years ago. The cyst's morphology is not suspicious, and my CA 125 level is 8. The cyst was found by TVU and is in the lower right abdomen near the level of the cervix. It has has no significant growth in 8 weeks. However, I have elected to have a hysterectomy because CA of the reproductive system runs in my family. My 3 questions: How does a cyst like this form? How can it be called ovarian when it is nowhere near the ovary? What statistical probability is there that it may become cancerous?
