I have the same issues. I've had the tightness in chest, feel it go to my shoulders, arms, back, even my jaw believe it or not. They checked me with ekg. I ended up having more issues and went to a digestive doc. Did scope and I have a hiatal hernia. Unfortunately there isn't too much they could do other than keep me on the acid reflux meds I have already been taking.

I've had this problem for as long as I can remember. It needs to be relieved of pressure multiple times per day and it's become such an instinctive habit to pop my ribs/ sternum that I don't even realize I'm doing it. I believe it's aggrivated even more by stress and poor diet. Exercise actually seems to help at this point. I also had multiple checkups over the years including cardio, gastrointestinal and thyroid. So far nothing conclusive.

I have this same problem. Suffering now and found this forum. I found alot of information on YouTube about how to loosen you're sternum to pop it. As well as things to do to relieve pain. Tons of information. Try there. This truly sucks! Began popping mine because it felt good in the morning. Now I've got so much pressure. It feels broken.

I have had a “pressure” in my chest/sternum area for many, many years. The only thing that relieves it is to have someone put their full body weight on my chest & when this happens I feel like a million pounds has been lifted off of me! Yes, wierd! I’ve been to dr.s over the years, had many tests - all for nothing. It’s embarrassing to try & explain. When I don’t have someone who can do this for me I sometimes press my chest over the top of a chair and hang there ... I know of no one else with this.

Hi all,

So i've actually managed to get rid of this. It still pops from time to time, but NO MORE CONSTANT PRESSURE!

What I did is I bought a bottle of fish oil supplements, called Fish Oil by Optimum Nutrition.

It relaxed my joints, including the sternum.

It's not too expensive, so at least try it. I felt better after almost finishing the capsules. So it takes a little bit, maybe a month. But ever since I've never had the problem. Occasionally it would still pop, when I sit on the couch with my shoulders a bit towards the front, using my laptop and then sit up. But that is it.

Good luck, i know it sucks.
