I am now two months from my HoLEP surgery at Mayo Clinic with Dr. Humphrey. No pain, no blood, good flow, sleep nights, no leakage. What more could I want.

I am in CA and flew to see Dr. Lingeman in Indiana--inconvenient; but, necessary. I could not find anyone in CA that did Holep procedure.
It was worth the trip to Indiana.
If you find someone in Ca, I would love to know because I checked everywhere:UCLA, UC Davis ; UCSY; Stanford, etc.--no one (hard to believe!).
I would stick with the reallly well known doc who are mentioned on this website. Bill

To all who have posted here I thank you. I am scheduled with Dr Humphyers at the Mayo AZ for July 23rd. I am concerned because my symptoms are not near as bad as some of yours were prior to your HoLEP. So in comparison the after situation surgery looks worse than what I have now. However for those still trying to decide there is a new procedure called Prostric Urolift. It is approved in several countrys now and clinical study is starting in the U.S. Google Jean Brown Research and check it out. No RE, no Catheter very minimal. Only drawback is how long will it last. Longest follow at this point is 5 years and still doing good. I am considering it. JWB43

I am a 78 year old retired ophthamologist with BPH and progressively increasing symptoms of frequency, nocturia, and urgency. Medical treatment has not helped; best surgical options for me seem to be HoLEP or Greenlight Laser. Who do you recommend re HoLEP in the San Francisco/San Jose area (Silicon Valley) or should I go to Mayo Clinic or Dr. Lindeman at Indiana Univ? Thanks for your assistane

Before trying surgery ask your doctor to give you a prescription for Detrol LA 4mg it relaxes the blatter. I had Green Light Laser surgery in March of this year and it went well but I still had to get up every hour to pee, madding. I started Detrol LA about a week ago and last night I sleep through the night, I hope it continues. I wish you all the best. The prostate and the blatter are to different things.

Dr Humphreys in Phoenis Mayo is much closer than Indiana and he is very very good at HoLEP.

There is no one that I know of in the Bay Area that performs HoLep. I checked and decided to go to Indianapolis with Dr. Lingeman.

Phoenix Mayo is closer that Indianapolis. Dr Humpherys there is one of the best in the country.

Yes, but the Mayo requires 2 trips. Dr. Lingeman only requires 1.
Also, all of the pre-op blood work, EKG, etc. were done locally and faxed to Dr. Lingeman.
