I understand that pseudobulbar palsy is an effect or result of someone that has been diagnosed as having MS, Parkinson's disease, stroke, brain damage, or Lou Gehrig's disease. My mother has not been diagnosed with any of these. Although she has had TIA's during the past 10 years, all tests (MRI's) incidcates that she has not had a stroke.

My question:
Can you have the pseudobulbar palsy first with one of the diseases mentioned above, to follow later in life or has she just not been diagnosed correctly?
In other words, how can she have this palsy if it is an effect of a disease and she has not been diagnosed with one of the diseases?

Thank you,
