What is the psudogout? I’ve heard that it affects persons with arthritis. What does it actually mean? Is it common to occur in arthritis? My mother suffers arthritis, so I would like to know more about this complication. Thanks.

Gout is disease caused by collecting of crystals of uric acid in joints. Pseudogout, ‘gout-like’ disease is caused by the build up of calcium crystals in joints, and usually attacks knees. It’s joint disease, and has similar symptoms like arthritis. It can be misdiagnosed with gouty arthritis, but these are two different diseases. It’s not so common disease but the chances increase in elderly people.
