hey everyone I was a heroin user from age 17 - 22 and got clean in jail then moved. To make a long story short I relapsed a few years later and got on methadone. Eager to not get to addicted I stopped at 65 mg. After taking 65mg for a year I started decreasing and got to 49mg. I was on a high level so I was able to take home my methadone. Due to money issues I was forced to stop taking it. I went from 49 mg to 25 mg to about 10 - 12 mg in about a week using my 2 take home bottles. 3 days ago I stopped taking it completely and I started withdrawing bad. I was withdrawing when I was decreasing myself as well but having "something" in me made it easier whether that was mental or physical I dont know but it wasnt bad when I was taking my 10 mg dose. When I stopped abruptly at 10 I started getting it bad. I withdrawled for 2 days and took 1 10mg vicodin to help me sleep...withdrawaled again another day and did the same. How much longer do you think I will have to go? Also, did I prolong my withdrawls with the vicodin or start them over or do you think the vicodin wont matter?

Hi Hon: I TOTALLY feel for you and your situation, Vicodin is not the answer here, it can be VERY addicting. Is there a methadone clinic near you? I didn't have to pay when I was on it? I would have if I had made it to the trust level so that my local pharmacy could have distributed it to me. But I was sick of being on it, and got some other help. Find a local clinic, The only way of kicking this is to wean yourself to nothing! So 1st thing is to find a clinic near you. I think in most countries it is illegal to refuse addicts treatment. Then go see a counsellor and have a check up, I hate to say get back on this stuff, but yet again, perhaps - since you are SO close - they might have another option for you to finally kick it! And Personally I just wanted to say "GOOD FOR YOU!!!!" I don't know you, but I'm very proud of you. For people with no addiction experience, they don't have a clue what control it has on you. YOU CAN DO THIS, AND YOU CAN KICK IT OUT OF YOUR LIFE!!! you just need some help! Good luck and keep my updateD

I hope that there is methadone near you because what Bambi has said is very true. Please don't swap out one addiction for another because that will cause you to struggle with this for a longer period of time. I know it's been a few days so have you been able to get the help you need or are you still working on this? Keep us posted.
