I am glad I looked this subject up because I am in the same boat as all of you. Lots of stress and rising heart rate at bedtime mostly accompanied by loose stool. However it takes me hours to get back to normal. I am glad I am not the only one/

We need to get to the bottom of this. If anyone finds an answer email me at mcquigg2002 at yahoo.com I believe it is stress related .....but its just killin me. LAtely I have had the worse attacks. I am having taccacardi in corralation with my Bowel movements. The heart dr laughed at me and said she would talk to me about it. I guess I need to de stress my life. Last week for 3 hours I had stools one after another and I couldnt even walk because my heart would skip beats and flutter. I had taken a laxative and it istantly worked and it messed with my heart. Now I just feel my heart pound in my chest so hard. Oh I hate this and I want a Dr to listen to me.

One of my sicknesses and the hidden truth why it happened:
1: excess gas is caused by bad bacteria in the intestines.
(Bowel Movments release high amounts of bacteria in the blood stream)
2: When to bad bacteria gets out of control ( do to many reason )
the bacteria attacks the heat's sack. your heart has a bag around it.
your body protects your organs first so when this happens your defense system is low ( Meds, meds, lack of sleep, poor diet, to much alcohol, antibiotics ..yes antibiotics! While they kill the bad germ ...they also kill the good germs.
3: When you heart's sack is irritated it causes extra thumps. and the bacteria causes mega gas in the stomach.
I have learn a lot from my own trials with this problem and have found what works. There are Many other benefits.

I too have been experiencing these symptoms. I thought I was crazy...most doctor just ignore this. It doesnt happen every time, but when it does, I am exhausted and shakey for hours afterward. The symptoms usually begin about 20 minutes before I have a BM...now I know it is going to happen...I used to panic. I start sweating, get flushed, start shaking and feel disoriented and like I am going to die. The BM associated with these symptoms always has the same "odor" and I wonder if it is something I ate or some kind of bacteria. After these, I am afraid to eat and terrified of them happening again!! If anyone gets a diagnosis, I would love to hear it!!! I am a physician assistant and have never heard of this before...I keep thinking pheochromocytoma, but the drs think I am a hypochondriac for thinking this.

I HAVE NO INSURANCE; Goto CVS and the heart monitor says 107beats a minute. This is after my long relaxing walk. When I have a bowel movement, I can only imagine my heart races more, I can almost hear it in my chest and ears. A couple of years ago, I went to the emergency after dinner: Cabbage Soup-during reading my book; heart races! They told me I was excited" about being in the hospital, I was experiencing "Sinus Tachycardia" and that was normal-BECAUSE THEY DIDNT LISTEN-I told them I was reading a BOOK, then my racing heart made me drive straight to the emergency!!!! The monitor showed up and down, rates, topping off at 132 beats a minute. But without medical history-MOSTLY because of no insurance..........I was dismissed to cry many times, to feel like my heart can't take it. My father died of "MyocardioInfarct" My mother alive in her 60's( 2006) just had heart valve repaired and and bypass. Grandmother has a pace maker- I appear to be physically fit 5'3" 130lbs so my claims coupled with lack of insurance are blown off. I'm FRIGGING SCARED. Not on any prescribed med. & don't really want to trust the doctors, but I don't have a choice when one day it will feel as if an elephant is sitting on my chest. I just took my daughter driving for the first time, as she practices to get her driver's license. I exercise, I don't smoke, I don't drink. No coffee No bakeries goods My visit to the CVS Pharmacy says my cholesterol is good. I totally eat fermented soy; Tempeh, Kimchee! I just found a UTERINE FIBROID-what does that do? feels like a golfball! Does that affect my heart too My body is failing me. I practically live on chicken breast and salads, no dressing and or spinach, brussel sprout I prefer rice to potatoes, drink Wheatgrass, Chlorophyll Even if I did live the lifestyles of the rich and famous; the last 6 years?, I have gotten down to 18% body fat! What the hell? Is my grandmother and mother going to outlive me? Someone contact me and give advice. :'( :'(

Have Sleep Apnea, Hiatal Hernia, Acid Reflux, eosinophilic esophagitis and Atrial Fibrilation. Seems like I have feeling like Fast Heart Rate or something not feeling right in my chest with Heart Palpatation double beating etc... Then I have symptoms like I have to have a Bowel Movement and usually have to go to Bathroom. Symptoms usually get better after BM. Sometime Stomach and Lower Chest uner Rib Cage hurt or have pressure.
Not sure what to do. EKG's at ER show nothing when I have bad episodes and can not just wait it out. Have worn Event monitor and Holter Monitor they show nothing. Dr. has diagnosed me with Atrial Fib and on Medicine for that. I wonder if I do not actually have Afib but the other symptoms caused Heart to get out of Rythym. I have only gone into Afib condition one time.

Don't feel like the only one. I've had this problem for many years. BM's make me very anxious for some reason. Trying to work on it in therapy, diet and exercise helps too. I just went through this a few minutes ago, that's why i'm here right now. Sitting here at the computer, cold sweat dripping from arm pits, hands going numb, heart palpitations...all this before I even felt the urge to have the BM. After all these years I know what it is and know what's brewing so it really doesn't get to full panic attack mode anymore. Still it is pretty annoying to say the least.
Seems like a trigger of sorts. Like someone said earlier about a nerve or something. Maybe a learned behavior, couldn't find a bathroom one time and got nervous. I've talked to medical and mental professionals but haven't got any definate answers yet after all these years.
Take a look at your routine...are you eating on a routine? seems to help to get that routine down, that helps get the BM routine going as well. Going to bed/getting up same time every day and eating at the same times.
Best of luck to you, I know it's very uncomfortable and not fun.

It sounds to me like it might be a sort of trigger that's related to anxiety because that's what seems to be going on here. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I fit in somewhere here ..sometimes have high BP rates prior to BM but this morning my BP was 126/76 ...took a BM ..got an overwhelming feeling of weakness, flushing, heartburn immediately afterwards ...tried to relax take deep breaths and my BP ...159/88. I certainly didnt have an apnea experience while on the toilet...I have been tested for Pheochromocytomas..... I have stents in my renal arteries that seem to be working fine . Is it possible that when I have a BM ....a tumor or something.. somewhere is being pushed upon and it causes this Pheo type reaction. I actually don't believe WE are having panic attacks....but something similar to Pheos ..which of course cause anxiety, weakness, palpitations, heartburn ..etc. Please everyone stay in touch .....and maybe just maybe we'll get a progressive doc in this discussion who can offer a window to some answers.

Hello, I'm chuffed i found this forum to be honest! I thought I was going crazy, it's great to know other people out there experiencing the same problems I am. Well it's not great of course, only for reassurance purposes!
I became very ill during my GCSE's at school (I'm guessing because of the stress) and had different medical problems before I was finally, 3 months later due to doctors being so bloody c**p, diagnosed with anxiety. Lightheadedness, fainting, panic attacks lasting for hours, weight loss, fatigue, migranes leading to loss of vision for long periods of time, blurred vision, the list goes on! It's weird how your own thought and feelings can make you physically ill o.O !
The doctors haven't done any tests on me whatsoever, they think its all in my head and sent me off with some betablockers. The betablockers actually worsened my symptoms and made it very hard to concentrate in college. I stopped taking the betablockers after a week and half and have since just got on with it and gotten rid of my anxiety after a good month or so. Thankgod!
But now I wake up during the night and I can feel my pulse is quicker than usual. It's a good 60bpm when resting due to the fact I use to do alot of sport for many years before I became ill and eat well. If I even move slightly my pulse raises to around 120-130bpm! I'm fully calm and use breathing techniques I picked up during my anxiety period. Of course my anxiety isn't fully gone but we all get abit anxious from time to time right?
My heart rate only decreases once I have passed stool. It's usually quite abit before it stops and can take a good three trips or so to the toilet. Sorry about details ;-)
The left side of my body feels as thought it's full and i get alot of pains under my left breast and really bad heartburn. It's hard to do anything anymore, I finmd simple tasks challenging as I get out of breath easily and have lost alot of weight.
The doctors aren't much use really and it looks like it's down to me. I'm only 16 and very determined to end this as the past few months have been alot of hard work and I want to live life like a normal teen again, not having daft thoughts thinking I'm gonna die etc.
If you've found anything helps you, please let me know.
I wish you all the best :-D

hey, don't feel too alarmed.. it's been happening to me too.. it's probably the food you're eating that's causing ur heart to be so rapid. Don't feel so bad for yourself.. i get tinnitus when i'm stressed, w/high blood pressure.. after my bowel movement.. it all goes away. Its all stress, be thankful for the things you have rather than you dont.. lay down, relax.. close ur eyes for one minute.. and you'll see youre back to normal.
once this becomes a routine, it'll be easier for you to get back on your feet.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one having these symptoms. Thought I was going crazy.
I have a pretty good doctor, I'm gonna go see her this week and see what she thinks. I really thought I was having a heart attack, and this doesn't happen to me all the time, but when it does, it's REALLY scary. I thought I was gonna die. I was that close to calling 911.
Anyway, I will keep this thread updated with what happens. I'm determined to figure this out now.

Well, they took some blood and are testing for normal thyroid function. We also talked about stress management, and beta-blockers. Told her I don't want to take drugs if possible. We'll see what the tests reveal.
