Hi, I would like to know how other women have managed after an abdominal hysterctomy with ovaries both removed. Does your PMS and hormonal headaches dissappear after this operation?? How quick is recovery, how soon can I get out for walks and can I get driving with doctors consent after 4 weeks????

Hi,
I'm sure you've been told this before, but recovery and healing processes are somewhat different for every woman. This was a serious multiple organ removal procedure, so you really can't expect your body to just act as if all this didn't happen. It will take time, but some activity definitely is a good thing as long as you don't ignore the signs that maybe you still are not ready. Consult with your doctor about every major step in these first few weeks - better to be safe.
As far as PMS and hormonal headaches are concerned the answer is yes - since there are no hormones that ovaries produce and there are no cycles, all symptoms that were caused by change in hormones should be gone now, except if you must take hormone replacement therapy (but even in that case the doses of hormones can be regulated so that this doesn't happen).
Wish you fast recovery!
