i am ordinarily the healthiest person i know. five weeks ago i was knocked flat for five days with flu symptoms. 102, achey, no cough, no cold, but uncontrollable shivering. not fun. but i rationalized that if i toughed it out without antibios i would be better than new, and armed against h1n1, which it also might be i supposed.

then, a month later, same thing. not quite as bad 101, three days not five, but now my kidneys throb and i no longer feel confident about my condition.

i'm glad this thread reminded me of echinacea and goldenseal, that i will start doing immediately, as well as antibios in case it is by chance bacterial. but it is humbling when just as you think you have rearmed your immune system, it tells you that you have been harboring an enemy force the whole time. scary stuff.

I have read a few of the posts on frequent/recurrent cold-flu like episodes that these people are experiencing. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I ask these people, better, I IMPLORE, that they seek out a NATUROPATHIC DOCTOR (ND). NDs are specially trained to the body as a whole back into optimal balance, especially important for these individuals suffering with weak, unhealthy immune systems. Yes, of course, it's natural and sign of a functioning immune system to experience a mild cold ONCE IN A WHILE. But not this frequency of recurrence. Please do something now that can help solve your immune issues before it gets worse...and it definitely can!!!!

As I read these posts all I want to do is cry. Each one of them speaks to the frustration and unhealthiness I have been feeling for awhile now. I have begun to keep a journal of my symptoms- achy, blazing sore throat followed by what the doctor calls a sinus infection, then bronchitis. As one of you put it- we go to space! -why can't we figure out what the heck is wrong with us and why we keep getting these cold and flu like symptoms reoccuringly. I have tried the homeopathic route, I have had the entire house professionally cleaned thinking it was dust allergies which led to sinusitus, but nothing has worked. The cold/flu symptoms compound my asthma which makes this even more fun!! I noted that most of these posts are from 2008. I have experienced the same symptoms every fall for the last 3 years 2007-08, 2008-09 and now 2009-2010. I was watching something on a cable station and wonder....could this be a parasite which attacks the upper respiratory system?

I live in the Bahamas and usually very fit. For the past 2 1/2 months I have been getting recurring flu symptoms; overall sick and weak feeling, bad sore throat, ear aches, sinus infection. Sometimes I get a few days where I feel good and I think I beat it and then suddenly, all back to square one.

It's scary, I am starting to think there is something seriously wrong with me. I was happy to read these posts and that I am not the only one.

Dr. just wants to prescribe antibiotics, which I refuse, as I had C-Difficile colitus from amoxillin I took for a strep throat and nearly died from it 3 years ago. And when I read the previous entries, the antibiotics don't seem to work anyhow. So what is there to do? Do we keep getting sick and is there no cure?????? Did anyone that posted here earlier get better and if yes, how????

I am experiencing the same symptoms. This is my 3rd cold since Chrismas. Runny nose, cough, sore throat(which is the worst ever)!
I never get sick, so this is really bothering me a lot. I just started with an extra vit. C, so I will see how that helps. I went to doctor only the first time because of the bad sore throat. He did a test for strep throat, but it was negative. Something is going on, this is very strange. If anybody knows anything, please post it asap. I was thinking if it has something to do with H1N1? Did I mentioned that the 1st time it got in my eye and I had pink eye for few days.

This is nothing other than "misery loves company." i live in maine. went to California in November, and had what was most likely the Swine Flu. My doctor didn't invite me to his office, but my symptoms were a perfect match. After the five days, I got a sinus infection, and had two rounds of antibiotics. Returned to maine, and two weeks ago, flew to Florida, came back three days later, and got an upper respiratory infection again! Another round of antibiotics (mucous=green/disgusting), cough suppressant, Mucinex, Sudafed, and STILL sneezing, running nose, tired, etc. What's up with this? I'm starting to feel flawed.

Guys, first of all i was having the exact same recurring cold/fever for at least this last year. I'm getting really tired of this and it really disturbed me and my activities. I have heard from an old friend (he's working as a doctor) that this might be a symptom of HIV/AIDS (I have checked this statement validity on the net, and its one of the symptom). Then he suggested me to take an HIV test, but i got all paranoia of this virus so i guess i'm not going to take the blood test. However, my friend told me that the recurring cold might also be a symptom of any other virus infection other than HIV. Therefore, actually blood testing for virus is a good solution (perhaps).

Thx

Man, so glad to findthis site - thought I was going mad or soft!
I see no one has posted whether or not they have recovered or not after trying out some of the recommended solutions.
I will try the blood test for the mycoplasma pneumonia and also the echinacea and vit d3.
I will then report back.
Hope you all get well soon :-)

WOW!!! I'm suffering too! I live in Los Angeles .. I am at the point where I am actually embarrassed to tell family and friends that I'm "sick again"... I am 39 and usually very active! My poor husband ands son are being so patient and everyone keeps telling me that I need to REST. I am so sick of REST DAYS. I feel good, then bad, then okay, then iffy, then crappy, then okay again .... AGGGHHH!!!
I've been to docs, had panels done on blood, NOTHING. I am apparently very healthy. I seem to be getting depressed now because the "resting" is making me feel worthless! I am usually very creative ... and I can't focus at all. It's a downward spiral!!
Thanks for the venting forum .. it seems that's what this thread is ... ummmm ... IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE?????? :O

Hi all,
I thought I better subscribe to the forum to as I'm experiencing very similar symptoms. I would get sick of and on with mostly chills, body aches, headache, unproductive cough (worse at night), and trouble breathing because of mucas which is terribly difficult to break up in my chest (thus the unproductive cough). My energy also gets seriously zapped. That's probably the worst part, you feel demoralized. I really haven't every had a sore throat that I remember though. In my studies it looks like it's similar to mono, but also a little different (and having been tested for mono, I'm told I don't have it).

For about six months there I'd get it at least every week, and then it reduced to every other week. I thought I was rid of it, but here about 3 months later it's back. I don't know what's causing it, but the morning of the day that it kicked back in I went jogging (which I haven't done for about two weeks) and had sex (which it's been a while due to a pregnant wife). I'm wondering if one of those things could be a trigger. Maybe it kind of gets the virus floating around the blood stream again or causes hormones to shift or something.

I've been to the doctors had blood tests, chest x-rays, etc. Everything checked out as fine, although I know not everything is fine. It's like modern medicine doesn't have any idea what this thing is. Guess we don't know everything medically speaking. We don't even have a test for this stuff.

I'm a 30 year old male in UT, USA. Perhaps our data will some day help doctors figure out what this is and a cure for it. It's one of the worst health experiences I've had, I generally don't get sick very often and it's making me wonder if there isn't something more serious going on.

Disclosure: I’m not a health practitioner and I don’t have any rights to give medical advice.
I don’t sell or advertise anything.
Here’s my story.
9 years ago I had recurring cold 6 times. First one started in April and the last one in July.
I live in Northern California. At the end of the last cold I felt so tired that my legs didn’t hold steady when I was walking. I was 36 at this time and didn’t have serious health problems before.
So I got very scared. I started researching solutions on the internet. First, I started with freshly pressed juices. I always had a mild form of perfectionism, so I went with combination of champion + people’s press. I started also growing and juicing wheat grass. Then I started sprouting. Juices helped me to stop smoking. I noticed that after beat’s juice smoking becomes unpleasant. Juices helped me quickly. I felt that I have more energy. I started walking 4 miles every day in any weather. I also found book in the library called something like “Yoga for busy people” and started doing 20 minutes exercise set for busy people. I started doing “neti” which is
washing nose with the saline water in combination with another yoga cleansing technique which is called nauli kiya, that is exhaling completely and contracting your abdomen. Colds disappeared from my life, even the regular seasonal colds that I had regularly all my life in the fall and spring. For the last 9 years I had cold 3 times, twice after long air travel when my neighbors were sneezing for 12 hours next to me. If my story was about the cold I would finish it right now, but after these 9 years I think I start understanding what was happening to me and why I was having those colds.

First let me create a list of things I tried and learned for the last 9 years because of these 6 colds.
Juicing
Stopped smoking
Sprouting
Yoga asanas
Yoga cleansing
Walking
Liver cleansing (lemon juice + olive oil)
Running
Learning meditation.
Gardening.
Hiking
Changing diet to be completely vegan.
Master cleansing (lemon diet)
Visiting Yoga studio 4 times a week.
Breath exercises including pranayama.
Learning hypnosis and self hypnosis.
Vipassana meditation.

Looking back on all these activities I realize now, that those colds were really pushing me towards personal and spiritual development. Colds were not really illnesses; they were language the universal spirit used to tell me: “Wake up! You live too comfortably and you don’t grow spiritually. Take responsibility for your life in your own hands.” That is why I think that searching for medical solution in my case would be wrong idea. Even if I found such medicine that would protect me from colds, the spirit would find the way to make my life miserable and push me to the direction of evolution and development.
