Hi there! I had lumbar herniated disc but I suppose the procedure is the same- discectomy. I was told that most patients don’t have any complications, but that it is possible to experience some bleeding, infection, tears of the protective lining of the spinal nerve roots (dura mater), or injury to the nerve. It is also possible that the disc will rupture again and cause symptoms. They said that this occurs in about 5% of patients.
