I am 18 years old guy active in sport since I was 11. During trainings I saw a lot injuries but one of them especially worries me. I saw few cases my friends got hit in scrotal sack. I wonder if that means some kind of scrotal sack trauma. If injury is too strong, could surgical intervention be considered?

Trauma of scrotal sack is uncommon and usually it is resulted from strong and direct blow into scrotal sack. Also we have reported few cases that are caused by straddle injury. Damage of scrotum is occurring when scrotal sack is directly and forcefully compressed against pubic bone. There is wide spectrum of different injuries that might occur. Beside directly hit into scrotal sack, scrotal trauma can also be result of intratesticular hematoma, hematocele or laceration of tunica albuginea. The best way to get right diagnosis is color Doppler ultrasonography. That is imagining techinique of choice most doctors are using to get right diagnosis. If direct blow in scrotal sack caused serious scrotal trauma, surgical referral might be required. Reason is that testicular rupture, which is placed in scrotal sack, requires immediately drainage and repairing. You shouldn’t be too much worry, because an ordinary scrotal sack trauma generally does not require immediate surgical intervention, and usually is not so much serious.
