Ive noticed irregularities with my body and I know that something's up, despite doctors thinking otherwise. Its been a few months since I've noticed two small bumps in my scrotum, one in front and one at the back. The one in front is always the same size whereas the one at the back gets smaller when I lie down. I visited a Uro and a GP. The Uro said it was nothing to worry about after looking at the ultrasound report, while the GP only commented on the one in the front, saying it was a cyst. The report said mild varicocele, tortuous veins, etc. Since I've come across this problem, my libido hasn't been as high as it used to be. I lift weights VERY regularly. I've lost muscle and strength despite keeping my diet EXACTLY the same. I remember discovering this after getting a VERY subtle burning sensation in my sack (left testicle to be precise). Going a few months back, I I suffered a blow to my testicles while sitting on a ride at an amusement park (the injury wasn't severe by all means and there were barely any symptoms of pain or soreness after). I've also had discomfort in my upper leg (where my hamstring and glute join). The pain radiates on the left side of my upper left leg. Despite doctors ruling out everything, i KNOW that something is up that's keeping me from performing in the gym and perhaps causing low testosterone. I refuse to believe everything is okay, maybe its developing with age. I had an undesc testi and hernia(right side)which were repaired at birth. I can post ultrasound report if necessary.

You didn't mention where these bumps are located withing your scrotum, so I'm gonna venture and guess they're on the upper part above the testicle(s) and/or behind them. Your description sounds more psychological - you see something that you didn't have before (i.e., a cyst and mild varicocele) and you're freaking yourself out thinking there must be something wrong.
In my opinion, nothing of what you mentioned physically should cause you to lose your libido or produce less testosterone. I mean, I've not read anything in medical journals that would say this. Usually, if there's something wrong with your scrotum, things wouldn't be subtle: Scrotal lumps would be large, hard, or painful; or your testicle(s) would be in either constant discomfort, dull aches, or experience a lot of pain. From your description, I think you're in good health.
You could try going back to see a specialist and getting another ultrasound to confirm the lumps are a cyst and a mild varicocele. As for the low testosterone and libido, they could order a lab test to check for your hormone levels. Some of these things might be at your cost, but you seem to need peace of mind there's nothing wrong.

Ok so the cyst is on the front of the left testi. It doesnt feel like its ON the testi, rather, it feels like its externally attatched to it. Its kind soft to the touch, and even though the ultrasound had no mention of it, the physician did tell me that its a cyst and doesnt require any attention. Yes, it might all seem psychological, but the mild trauma and the leg discomfort followed by me noticing these irregularities doesnt seem like that much of a coincidence to me. Look at it this way, i didnt randomly stumble across this after a random self-physical exam. I started to sense discomfort down there, which led me to check and notice something that wasnt present previously. Furthermore, the ball-like vein at the back(bottom) of my left testi is also something i never had previously. My epididymis was always slightly enlarged on the left side, but never did i notice a lumpy ball-like vein before. My only concern is what if something actually has changed/is wrong but isnt significant enough for doctors urge me to take action?
As far as the tests go, another ultrasound may help in case the previous one was inconclusive. However, despite me worrying about T-levels and what not, i dont think theres any point in getting them checked because measures taken to fix the latter wont be permanent.
Thank you so much for your quick reply, and im sorry if you think my questions are pointless and that im freaking out too much :P i just want to make sure everything is alright.

Step back for a moment and try to see it from the doctors' perspective: Left leg pain, low testosterone level, and loss of muscle are not symptoms of a testicular cyst and/or a varicocele. I'm not saying you're not experiencing these physical symptoms, but that the cause(s) may be something else altogether... things which may be completely unrelated to each other, even. Don't freak yourself out and think about it for a moment. Read up on these things and you'll understand.
Do you know what the solution/treatment to the cyst and varicocele is? The urosurgeon would have to cut your scrotum, take out your testicle, and carefully try to excise the cyst and tie up the varicose vein. I suppose it could be done laparoscopically, but the risk still remains almost the same - cutting the blood supply to the testicle would be one of the worst, as is developing an infection at the incision point. Other risks are the development of a hydrocele, the varicocele returning, scarring within your scrotum, and, of course, the risk that your physical symptoms will be unchanged.
Some doctors are unscrupulous and won't hesitate cutting you open down there, so you have to be real, real sure this is what you want 'cause the results may vary, are not guaranteed, and may be irreversible. Knowing this, I'd say go about this slowly and methodically and I do hope you get better with as little medical intervention as possible.

Yeah i understand. I wont make any false assumptions but i still have a few concerns.
1) Is it possible that the varicocele/cyst were caused by a blow to the testis since I didnt have them before? If not, what possible causes are there?
2) The ultrasound report apparently indicated everything was alright. it just said tortuous veins mild varicocele blah blah. Is it possible that when i was getting the ultrasound done, the veiny bump (so called varicocele) wasn't prominent AT ALL like it is after a hot shower/ ejaculation, which is why the reports may be misleading?
3) I ran a few internet searches and it said that varicoceles are linked to hindered test production/sperm quality/volume etc and infertility in general. Need i still not be worried?
4) I think me bringing in the leg issue was kinda pointless. Its surely unrelated, probably just hamstring tendinitis or piriformis syndrome or sciatica or what not...
Thank you for bearing with me and giving comprehensive replies. I feel very grateful.

From the general descriptions of varicoceles, there is no definitive way to tell what causes them. Could a direct blow to the testicles cause it? Maybe. The worst cause would be something like a tumour. If no cause can be ascertained, then it is something that may not have a direct cause and at that point it is a matter of how one manages along with it. Does it cause you a lot of pain? Can you carry out your normal activities without triggering discomfort and pain? If there is discomfort and pain, what triggers it and what helps alleviate it? If you find that the varicocele is getting larger or affecting your daily activities, it is then that you'd address this with the urosurgeon about your treatment options.
You're correct in stating that varicoceles have been directly associated with infertility. If you're in the process of wanting to conceive a child with your wife, then it's something to bring up with your GP and specialist. It is at that point that you may have to undergo a varicocelectomy.
If the varicocele is asymptomatic, then all you have to do is be watchful by doing your normal routine self-checks every month, do your normal annual physicals, and try to be in as best of physical shape as possible by eating right and exercising.
As for the cyst, the same goes for that. It's a small, fluid-filled sac, which might be spermatozoa. It may not have a direct cause, either; perhaps it's a blocked tube in the epididymis. The only times I'd say to become concerned is when it gets larger and larger or if it's causing an autoimmune response. Otherwise, if you're not experiencing any symptoms, then just leave it alone and do more of a watch-and-wait.
As I said earlier, consult a specialist again, do another ultrasound to confirm the findings and to rule out serious things such as cancer, tumour, hernia, infections, and inflammations. Once there, you can also address your concerns with the specialist and make sure he or she listens and explains things until you understand them. This may be at your cost.
Hope you feel better.

1) As far as this issue in the scrotum goes, it isn't asymptomatic by all means. I get this VERY mild burning sensation on the left side of my scrotum (I don't know whether it's because of the varicocele or the cyst). See, the thing is, i didn't randomly discover these. Following my trip to the amusement park, i didn't experience any serious pain. I did, however, sense this incredibly subtle burning sensation that led me to do a physical exam.
2) Furthermore, i'm not trying to conceive at the moment (I will in a few years though). I am, however, worried about the impact on testosterone levels (even if the effects aren't very significant in nature). I can live with the subtle burning sensation but its the implications on test levels that give me sleepless nights. I know that they haven't changed by an extent that calls for medical attention. I do, however, worry/have regret about the fact that they aren't optimal anymore (like they once used to be). This may be the case either because of the varicocele raising temperature down there or the cyst causing some form of blockage.
I will visit a urologist today and keep you updated about what he has to say. I'd still like your take on things though.
P.S. Here's a link to a picture of the report of the first ultrasound that i got done. I spoke to the surgeon (who operated on me to fix the hernia and undescended testi when i was very little) and he said he doesn't know how credible the urologist i visited is or how accurate the reports are. He told me he'd have a look at me when i'm back in town.

If you read about varicoceles and cysts, then you'll see that there's no definitive cause for them. It could be a coincidence that you discovered them after being struck on the testicles. What is there to say these formed or were in the process of forming prior to the accident? I think most doctors will tell you that a subtle pain, ache, discomfort, or sensation isn't anything they're going to be responding to with alarm unless it's cancer, a tumour, a fractured penis or testicle, an enlarged prostate that doesn't allow you to urinate, kidney stones, torsion, a strangulated hernia or hernia, or very large bumps and lumps (like a golf ball-sized hydrocele or a grade III varicocele).
If you want to make this urgent or convince someone there's something wrong, you'd have to exaggerate your symptoms and say you're in a lot of constant, unbearable pain. At that point, the specialist will operate on you... because that's pretty much the only option you have other than not worrying about it and remaining calm.
You need to check your testosterone hormone levels before you worry about them. You're most likely doing yourself more harm by worrying about this than whatever a cyst and/or spermatocele can ever do to a guy. Many of us have a feeling of regret about not being optimal anymore - it's called aging. Unless you want to live in a bubble or walk around on egg shells the rest of your life, it's just not something worth losing sleep over. At least to me. Sleep is very important and rejuvenating.
This isn't to say you should ignore whatever symptoms you are experiencing. Most definitely get a second or third opinion to allay your worries. However, just know that in the grand scheme of all that could go wrong with you down there, what you have doesn't sound terrible and you could make it worse by wanting a solution to restore everything to its optimal state.

Has anyone used lugols 2%iodine to paint on their affected testicle? I did a search and the post from people has said it pretty much cured them, I'm also afflicted with cysts on my testicles and and at this point I'm desperate enough to try anything.
